Sounds good just trying to help. All I know from my experience that mine are wearing great. Could be a fluke though lol

Not much here. Renaud33 has run a few trails but they are an hour south of Des Moines and have some rules about the equipment you have to have in order to wheel there. Hopefully others will chime in with some more info.

Yeah I just have some land I have access to. But your best bet in all honesty being in the middle of the state and not enough tough terrain is just taking some fun backroads. And such

There should be maps of maintenance B roads, those can get fun if we have had any rain. Nick did I hear you say you want me to bring the stormtrooper out to your land?? ;)

The biggest issue is that it is private land so you can't just show up and expect to get on the trails. You either need to be a part of the club that uses this land or attend an open event there. You wont find any public land in Iowa where you can legally offroad. There are several state funded public parks for ATVs, but nothing for full size vehicles.

Build it similar to how my truck was plus some depending on how healthy the engine is. I need to spend some time when it's warm cleaning up and painting the frame too.

I worked on my frame this weekend at Adams, used the Rustoleum rust converter, seems like a decent product. May try the 3m version, and the Eastwood as I think they may work better.

I have some pretty bad spots so I will probably sandblast the frame and por15 it. Might do frame reinforcement plates at the same time for the hell of it.

Naval jelly is my go to rust remover though. It works great after a couple long soaks.

Sounds good...if I could get my 85' 4Runner going again I would take that to build trails. I could care less if it gets scratches or dents. ;)
