Transporting guns through Canada.

Has anyone that moved to Alaska brought guns with them through Canada? I did a quick Google search, but there is quite a bit of information that I'll have to dig through. In the meantime I'm hoping one of you could give me any information you may have if you've done the same thing.

 

Just a suggestion , but it may be easier to forward the guns through a US carrier and pick them up when you arrive especially if they are classified as a Restricted Weapon here

 

^this. My room mate tried to bring a hand gun through and he had to put it a box at the border and mail it to a dealer up here. I'm sure it can be done but it may be easier to avoid the hassle. I don't know all his circumstances as to why they wouldn't let him bring it across

 

What are the restricted weapons Oz?

They wont let you bring any hand gun across but you can bring hunting rifles, all you need to do is go on line print out the form and fill it out and present it to them when you cross. Like Oz said though you should find out what is on that list depending on what kind of weapons you are bringing.

 

Basically if they don't like the way it looks, it's not acceptable.

Any gun is going to need a transport permit so even if you show up with a gun that isn't prohibited or restricted you aren't going to be able to bring it without the proper paperwork

 

Yeah, it looks like I'm just going to ship them to avoid the headaches. Thanks for the help guys!
