It is the transmit that would be fried. Maybe when you get it back together, everything will be in good working order.

Tried to install my cb antenna tonight and the hood channel mount I got from Firestik is too thick for the hood channel...The hood scrapes on the mount pretty badly and I am afraid of it scraping off the paint and eventually rusting the edge of the hood. Now I guess I need to find another place to mount the antenna. Greeeeat.

    30% off the $40?

Edit: And will it clear a camper shell? That's why I was going to use the hood mount.
Edit Edit: Is there a post in your build thread of your install? Will 18' of cable be enough?

Yeah, it would be $28 before shipping. And should be free shipping as well, but I'm not 100% sure. The discount is automatically applied at checkout.

As Monte said, it should clear. And install is simple, just remove the two bolts that hold on the tailgate latch and reinstall the bolts with the antenna mount on top of the tailgate latches.

18' of cable was perfect for me.

Sweet. How do you get the cable from way back there into the cab? Through the door? I would rather not do that... Sorry for all the questions. This is becoming a larger ordeal than it should be

There is a grommet right below the driver side seat and one in the driver side rear storage if I recall correctly.

I used the grommet thingy at the lower corner of the back of the cab that runs into the jump seat storage area.

Driver side storage thing......What's that? I have a double cab. Would that be under the carpet behind the rear seats? I would go look myself, but it's dark and kinda chilly outside

yeah thats only on xcabs. There should still be a rubber grommet on the back of the cab on the drivers side. look in between the bed and cab and you should beable to easily see it.

I don't have a clue on the double cabs....

You do have one under your driver seat on the outside of the frame for sure though.

Hey thanks for the pictures! I only use the camper every now and then so i don't care if it hits it. Only care if i would have to remove the antenna or not. And I will look for that grommet tomorrow!
