I bought a cheap pressure washer from lowes on the way home from work. took off my skids, and let loose on the underside. Still had lots of dirt and sand. I should have bought one of these years ago!
And I still have an occasional creak at very low speeds. Gotta make sure its clean before I ask Toyota about it
It does seem like it could be the needle bearings. When I grab the shaft closest to the diff, I can move it around quite a bit! If it is the bearings and Toyota wont warranty it, I will go with the ECGS bushing swap.

 

I bought the $99 dollar one from there yesterday. last night I washed the truck and that little washer stripped my slider and grille paint

 

did you strip the inside of your tuck and get out the mud and sand out? Did you do the rear Diff Breather mod? if not better change your rear diff oil.

 

I haven't tore out my interior yet, but believed me I know I have to change diff fluid lol. Any suggestions(I usually use lucas ) but heard they're not as good as they used to be

 

I got {3} quarts of Royal purple Max gear oil if want to buy it $40.00

 

That's the one I bought too! Pretty impressed with it. Didn't lose any paint tho. I also need to change my rear diff fluid...

 

I picked up 6 quarts of what Toyota uses a little while back. AC-Delco, synthetic and expensive. Just hit 60k miles so how bout a diff oil party?

where you found Mobil1?! Everywhere I checked was out

 

I was just thinking off changing my rear LSD diff oil as well.. have an extra magnetic bolt from the first time just in case I stripv this one. I think I just did the lucas oil and the Toyota additive...

 

Good thing it was the plate and not the oil pan. Can prob bang the dent out.

My work.. same as my brake fluid. I use pro Honda. A little higher boiling point. Also a dot 4

does the sound go away when u put it in 4 hi? Couple weeks ago, I changed out my needle bearing to the ecgs thinking it was making the noise but it turned out it was one of my wheel bearings lol.

 

Hopefully that isn't the problem, though! Hope its something much simpler. I gotta go diagnose some strange sounds too. There is still a lot of cleaning that I need to do though. Time to drop my factory skids and see what's going on under there.

I think the first gen only got stuck because those tires were a little low on tread

 

The driver said the wheels were different sizes so his 4WD would fight itself and bind up

 

yup. he got out ok though, 4wd in the sand is soft enough to not bind up.

he had a lot of fun, don't think he's taken his truck off pavement in a long time.
