You seem to have boiled over onto the stove....

Favorite was probably my second car/first truck. It was my dad's old 87 Nissan. He bought it brand new off the lot in the fall of '86. It was an absolute stripper; manual everything (no power steering even! I learned to parallel park at 15mph:D), 5 spd 2wd 4 banger, regular cab. The only option he got with it was a posi rear axle (My parents live on top of a big long hill; PAST the ski slope in Farmington, with a long steep winding driveway after that). He drove it to just over 200k and it started blowing fuel pumps, so he parked it.

I learned a lot of tinkering on that truck. I got it running again as a field truck after it had sat for 7 years (one of the valves was sticky, so it smoked for a few minutes after we first got it running again, but a hot soak with some Marvel's Mystery fixed that). After I'd had it running for a couple of years I decided it was fit to go back on the road, which was aided by the fact that the rear seat had just fallen through the floor of my Aries:eek:
I got it stickered, and drove it for another three years and 80k. It's actually the truck that got my my current girlfriend, because it was such a POS that it made a good conversation piece. But even with nearly 300k it burned no oil, started on the first crank when it was -20, and I could throw it into 5th gear at the bottom of Mile Hill (aptly named) in New Sharon and accelerate the entire way up the hill. I always drove it like I stole it, and it shrugged everything off.

I MISS that truck, and wish I'd never sold it. But, nostalgia has probably made it better in my mind than it ever was. But it was reliable as hell, cheap to own, run, and fix, and a whole lot of fun to drive.

    Sorry to monologue, haha
Evidence of how much i liked that truck, I guess, because I'm just giving you highlights.

Buddy of mine at work races his cobalt . Guess it one of the fastest n/a cobalts in the north east.

All the old timers give him shit . Lol but he's got a sweet nova that comes out the garage twice a year to get them to shut up.

22r/re has the timing chain issue, and the 3vz was a piece of crap....

I never had a problem with either. Had my 93 Hilux 4x4 3.0L bored .030 over and was a rocket. That truck towed my race car every week for years and never even felt it behind me. My Celica ran like a top also. Maybe just got lucky?? What do you guys call the earlier pickups before the "Tacoma"

    Toyotas :D
I've also heard them referred to as a Hilux (false) and also a Tacoma (also false).
I think Toyota actually listed them for years as "Truck" in their lineup.

Drag or scca /time attack etc...? They may look kind of gay, but they are great cars. And unlike other sport compacts, you don't have to Rev them out to 7000 rpm to get any sort of usable torque...

Seriously, mine came from the factory with 260hp/ 260 ft-lbs tq. I got the gm performance flash, bumped up to 280 Hp/ 320 ft-lbs of tq, while retaining the factory 100k mile warrenty... Quaiffe helical gear driven lsd, launch control, competative mode which turned everything off except abs and allowed you to shift without letting off the gas so the turbo didn't loose any spool. Equal length axles to negate tq steer. O, and cruising at 70 on the highway it got an easy 33 mpg. Exhaust was quiet too, no ricer braap noises.

It was real lulzy at track days passing d-bags in bmws, porshes, etc..

Yeah that was always kinda odd. I have a 93 toyota ....um....truck?? But sometimes like when registration was due-model options did say Hilux.. Other times it did come up too... Glad i have a "Tacoma" now

3vz had well documented exhaust valve problems, particularly on the #6 cylander problems and headgasket problems. The 22r series engine are awesome, except the plastic timing chain guide was prone to fail, causing the chain to eat through the water jacket and make a nice chocolate milkshake in the engine

1st car was a Plymouth Arrow--4 cylinder Mitsubishi engine backed with a 4 speed stick. That car was fun and blew out a few V-8s at red lights :). My favorite so far is probably my current Taco though I really loved my locked 79 Bronco, she was a beast and the stereo I put in her got me my 1st and only noise citation at Hampton Beach :).

I bash GM because of the lies they told me about my truck..not a fanboy thing.

First car..79 Mustang, notchback. Red, bottom half of the doors and fenders were black, black stripes on the hood. Loud as hell. 4 cylinder LMFAO. Had the red Kokomo dual blade wipers that were all the rage in the early 90's.

Favorite..probably my '84 Camaro, green..undercover cop car before I had it, thing went pretty good before it kept puking transmissions. Maybe my 73 Buick as well but I never got to register it.
