Just imagine it a few inches lower and with shitty rims, and typical GM cloth instead of leather.

3.6L V6, 300HP 270ft-lbs tq... drool. That is on par with the old 5.3L V8 my Tahoe had.

After reading the articles on it further, it definitely sounds like if nothing else, it will step the game up for the midsize market. I actually really like how it looks, inside and out.

Personally, I think it will sell good enough for Toyota to take notice, as there are still a LOT of people who buy a Chevy because that's what they've always owned and now there is a competitive midsize truck that fits their needs. I, for one, really hope it does, because I share the sentiment that a lot of people have on here that Toyota has gotten really lazy with the Tacoma, and from a feature/value standpoint, it's not really that exciting or competitive anymore. Now, reliability-wise may be a different story, but Chevy is supposedly improving there.

Yes and no, depends on how you use the truck. From the specs, this looks like the GM 3.6 direct inj engine. Whenever you see higher HP ratings then torque, then you know it's tuned for HP and actual truck use may suffer as high HP usually goes along with lower low rpm torque. DI also has it's own set of issues that are still being worked by the industry.

"Two and four-wheel-drive models will be offered across three trim levels, including an off-road style Z71. At launch, 193 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 302 hp 3.6-liter six-cylinder engines will be available, both with six-speed automatic transmissions, but a class-exclusive diesel option will be added in the Colorado’s second model year."

This is why I will seriously look at the Colorado and why Toyota had better wake up and offer the diesel engine that they offer world wide in the Hilux.

Chevy is moving more and more divisions to China. After being bailed out with our tax dollars, they deflect to China. Fluck that, son! I'd rather walk.

Why do you people even buy a taco if you aren't happy with a regular gas engine?

Just wait and see how many people actually buy the small diesel when they realize it adds another $4-5,000 to the price

Because deep down they know it'll run for years and won't give them a lick of trouble whereas this new fancy dolled up Colorado with a diesel might sounds cool but will start nickel and dining you to death by 50,000 miles. Think of it like this, Tacoma is the girl you want to marry, GM with its diesel would be fun to have a fling with but you know it would never last.

Not gonna lie....it's sharp as hell. Ticks all the right checkboxes so far too. If Toyota doesn't step up their game with the 3rd gen Tacoma I could see myself in a Chevy (which I NEVER thought I'd say). They bed options (especially the kayak holder) piqued my interest.

Because in a midsize truck there was no other option until now?? I really don't understand this question. That's like asking why someone bought a tube television 5 years before LCD or plasma ones came out. At the time they bought it, it was the best option available.

I'll give it a few years after they are out before I pass a real judgement, but I'm not holding my breath on it being a showstopper.

 Best option available according to you, my V6 gas engine does everything I need it to so it is the best option available to me and it's pretty reliable.

Actually I agree with you personally, I don't need the diesel either, from a power perspective. Longevity and MPG-wise, it might make sense. But the gas motor does plenty for me. Just saying, for those that have always wanted the diesel, they never had the choice in a midsize until now.

The history my father and I have with previous Chevys makes me cringe, but if Toyota doesn't get off their ass and offer a diesel in the Taco in the next couple years, I fear I might give a very strong look at the Colorado.

If I win the lottery, I'm doing whatever it takes to have a diesel Taco. Want.

You realize you can get a kayak holder just like that from Thule or Yakima for your Tacoma, right?

Just curious what you all think about the new Colorado that's going to be coming out...and available with a mini-diesel in its second model?
