The three small wires that are attached to the original switch appear to be 20awg when I cut them with the wire cutters.

This is correct, the switch wiring doesn't need to be more than 20AWG. You'll need the female spade style terminals. I just took my OTRATTW switch into the the auto parts store to match it up.

Don't disagree but I think the hardness is rated for 30 Amps which should make it between 12-14awg I think. Guess we need Calvin to weigh in. I don't have any of my items yet so I can't measure the harness. Just going of code for carrying power for that length. Not an electrician but handy with electrically. Any electricians out there.

The only purpose the wires at the switch serve is to trigger the relay. The relay then sends the current from the power source to the light. That's were the heavier gauge wire is. The relay is handling the current not the switch.

The wires for the switch don't carry the current that operates the lights, they simply carry enough current to trigger the relay, so they are much smaller, i.e. 20 AWG. The rest of the wiring that powers the relay (comes from the battery) and powers the lights (goes from the relay to the light) is the heavier gauge you're thinking of.

Sorry to sound clueless with my questions, but which wires go to which posts on the back of the OTRATTW switch. There is a blue, a white, and a black wire.

So after melting the wiring harness and almost setting my truck on fire, i finally think I have the wiring correctly. After some help from a c2one and rockhopjohn on the forum, the guys at OTRATTW, and Calvin from Illumination Supply, i put together a diagram for people like me out there that are new to wiring. If anyone sees something incorrect, please let me know so i can fix it. Here is my set-up:

    - 20" double row led bar
    - Single light wiring harness
    - V1B1BB0B V-series Contura V sealed rocker switch from OTRATTW

Once i cut the original switch off, i had three wires to connect to the switch (white (which is gray in the picture because of the white background), black, blue).

(NO, DO NOT DO THIS!) Originally i connected the blue to #7, white to #2, black to #3. This resulted in a hot harness, melted wires, and smoke. Not sure why the fuse didn't blow, but i disconnected things ASAP.

(YES, DO THIS!) Blue connects to #3, white connects to #2, black connects to #7 (ground = light negative).

I also mounted the relay using the same bolt that the battery's negative post is connected to a few inches away.

Thanks again to everyone that helped walk me through this. Hopefully nobody else will screw up like i did and scare the hell out of themselves.

Sorry for the delay guys, I've been really busy with the influx of regular store orders from the holiday season. The remaining light bars should be here before the end of the month. I'll start releasing some single rows for payment very soon. The 6" Slim bars should also be restocked around the end of the month. Thanks for your patience!

I swore 85 on the relay is ground... not 86

For the ground you also don't have to connect your light bar grounds to it and you also don't have to take the relay ground to the - on the battery. Just ground them all on the chassis.

yea. these are funky. When I wired up a TW members bar I came to the same conclusion as the diagram above. Weird but it works that way and only that way.

EDIT: way to go calvin! just placed my order!
