Just because it does everything you need it to do, does not mean that it does everything I want it to do. Hell, I went up one tire size and can definitely feel the lack of power. Come pull my boat up the hills in East TN, much less the mtns out west.

It might look nice, but a Chevy is never going to outlast a Toyota.

Regearing would be cheaper than buying a new truck.
    Agree.
I've owned lots of trucks, and by far Chevy gave me the worst headache.

I am my own source, I have a 7 year old toyota with 170k miles that doesn't use or leak a drop of any fluid.

My first two trucks (chevys) gave me zero problems.
My dad still has one of said trucks above with 250k also no drips :notsure:

Besides, my original comment was in reference to his "never" comment...

    back to bone stock.
    i loved my old chevy!!

besides the time the motor blew up (got a warranty crate motor), and when the transmission blew up (transfer case seal failed and drained the tranny, cost me $3400), and when the wire harness failed and killed three batteries, and when the ball joints failed (silver lining, i can now do ball joints in my sleep), steering box, kaput.. besides all this, my truck never gave me a lick of trouble. i never replaced a light bulb!! awesome truck.

okay the motor was a mechanic's fault.

the tailgate was strong! and when i sold it the frame was black and rust-free!

i actually decided to buy a tacoma next when my tacoma buddy showed up to visit during my ball joint, install, cuss fest. he looked and said.."hey, cool..i've never done a ball joint job before. all i ever owned has been toyotas".

    lesson learned. :D

I agree with you, but I would lose more MPG. I just want Toyota to step up to the plate and offer more engine options. Hopefully, some competition will help those of us that want a truck the size of the Tacoma, but haul heavy loads or tow.

The front lower valance looks like it was influenced by the Tacoma. Not a bad looker, but the seats are a little weird. All the hoopla and it's still a year away from production. The website says Fall 2014.

    The better coast

My friend got his dads (vineyard used) silverado (a 2000) when he got his license. the truck had 200k on it when that happened and when my friend got a new car it had 385k on it and his dad put it back out on his vineyards. That was 5/6 years ago when it turned back into a work truck.

Its still running problem free hauling trailers 100+ miles between the vineyards, not to mention spending the majority of its life in the dirt.

After seeing more pics and seeing some specs I admit I really like it. Granted I don't see myself going back to a midsize but if I was if give this a serious look. Interested to see the final specs on the diesel too.

As for all the "it's crap cause it's a Chevy and won't last" opinions. There are tons of Chevy trucks with hundreds of thousands of miles. You can pick out any manufacturer and find people who have had bad experiences while most haven't. Not like Toyota makes flawless vehicles that no one has ever had issues with. Frankly I'm sure people will think I'm nuts but to me questioning whether a Chevy truck will last a long long time is nearly as ridiculous as questioning a Toyota trucks longevity. Nearly.

6700 lb towing capacity according to http://www.carscoops.com/2013/11/all-new-2015-chevrolet-colorado-targets.html, which is just 200 lb more than the Taco.

It's a handsome-looking truck though. Competition is always a good thing. Some features like the torsion-bar tailgate spring would be welcome in the Tacoma. Looking forward to hearing more details on the diesel and off-road features (like whether the Z71 will have a rear locker). Wonder if midsize truck buyers are ready to deal with diesel emissions equipment like DEF refills, particulate filter regeneration cycles, etc.

Not sure about the mudflap arrangement though

Problem is it's still a Chevy.

    That's not a fanboy comment.

It's a comment from someone who owned GM for 20 plus years..I had an 06 Colorado that had the head failure and have been lied to and screwed over by 2 dealers and GM to the tune of about 2 grand.

So after 2 decades you wrote off the brand due to one vehicle? If someone came here and swore to never buy Toyota again because their first gen rusted everyone would be a over them.
