Gotta figure out where everything is going first! Would SUCK to weld something in and realize later that is doesn't work and waste all that time, effort, and materials.

Hell, the drivetrain isn't even in! :p It's only mocked up right now. I just slapped the tcase, crawl box and tranny together. Not all the parts are in yet. Glad I didn't because I'm pretty sure I'll be rotating the tcase back down a bit to decrease the drive shaft angle.

With the cab stripped down the way it is... I'd say it's easily under 200lbs. :notsure:

I just dug through my bin of scrap pieces and stacked some 1/4" plate over where the rear body mount bushings were and the front has sections of 2" OD x 1/4" wall tube sandwiched between plate.

Cleaned the areas for the body mounts and welded the front spacers on

Cab is already back on the frame now.

Not much new, gonna try and get the hydro assist ram set up today. I also checked the fitment of the seat, and I'm definitely gonna rotate the tcase back down to get the seat a little lower. I could lower the whole drivetrain but that would be a huge PITA I think.

Call it stupid, but I looked over what I intend to do to this thing and it's not far off from being potentially uhhh... 'race-able' if you will. I think if I'm putting as much time, effort, and money into this thing I might as well go the extra mile if I can and have it conform to some kind of guidelines. I looked over the rulebook and chassis/safety checklist for Ultra4 modified stock class and it seems doable... soooo why not, right? :notsure: :anonymous:

    http://ultra4racing.com/racers/rulebook/

I'm not much of a 'competitor', so it's highly unlikely that I'd take it that far. But if I get a wild hare up my ass, I'll have the vehicle to do it.:D

I emptied the housing, its easier to weld the inside. Then I parked the torpedo heater in front of it before and after welding.

I found that I had a microscopic pinhole leak on the pass side

Also after the carrier is removed, if you are concerned with warping, etc. bolt a piece of stock across using two of the diff cover bolt holes

I just threw the ring gear in to get an idea as to how much I could get away with shaving off.

I forgot you are making your own covers/etc.

Dumb me just assumed you were using the ballistic shave kit. Take a look at theirs even though you are doing your own. The mill a groove for the ring gear into the bottom plate so you can shave the housing a touch more.

Yeah I'll pretty much be stacking plate around the ring gear. Did the same for the 14b.

For the 14b I think I'm gonna go with a Blue Torch Fab DIY kit for the cover since they are like half the cost of others and just modify it.

    http://www.bluetorchfab.com/Product/948/BTF-14-Bolt-Kryptonite-Differential-Cover-DIY-Kit.aspx

For both front and rear covers, I'm gonna try going for something like this on the bottom half to protect the bolts and slide over the rocks a little easier.
