I sent an email to Toyota directly and they responded via my dealer that as of November and December they will not offer/build any V6 with a manual transmission, and have no word on whether it will happen after that.

    I am bummed.

So, do the automatics seem ok?

What is the reason you prefer a manual?

This is my 2nd Tacoma with an auto and it is trouble free.

Seems I've read about more issues with the manual transmission in the 2nd gens, then the automatics.

That's what it sounds like to me. They want him to buy what they have coming or in stock or whatever.

I am sort of used to it from my previous daily driver I had since most of high school, an '89 Toyota Pickup.

I like the consistent feel of it. I've been driving an auto recently and sometimes it feels like I really have to mash the pedal and other times it's like I'm barely giving it any.

I also just think it makes driving more enjoyable. I'm not a racer or offroader at all, but I like the idea of having more control and "skill".

I am the proud owner of a 2014 TRD Off Road DCSB with a V6 & 6 speed manual transmission. Think you got some bad info.

Also, before I had this truck I had an automatic Tacoma. The one thing that I really hated about it was that it would downshift whenever you tapped the brakes going down a hill. It wasn't smooth about it and sometimes it downshifted two gears so the tach was almost up to 4k rpms. It's all fun and games until you're driving in a snowstorm and it down shifts on you and causes the back tires to break traction and fishtail, possibly losing control. If there was a way to disable this system (other than shifting it into neutral every time you go down a hill) I wouldn't have a problem with the automatics.

No manual, no new truck for me. I hope this turns out to be false news, it would be a bad move from Toyota I think.

Yupp dealers try to push what they have coming in or what their partner dealers have.

I wouldnt do business with a place like that, check else where. I know the manual isnt as popular but its out there, and according to the toyota site you can build one if you want.
I built and ordered my truck .

The way I am reading the OP it sounds as if by the end of the year the MT Tacomas may not be offered. If true it would make sense that you could still find some around brand new for a little bit longer while the supply that is out there gets bought up.

When I bought my 2012 the salesman said he heard that a couple of changes coming to Toyota would be the discontinuation of the V6 in the Rav4 starting with the 2013 models and Toyota not offering the manual in the Tacoma after 2013. He said the reason for this is the new fuel economy standards that each manufacturer needs to abide by. Both of these changes removes options that produce lower fuel economy over other alternatives. We all know how reliable the rumors are from dealerships however this one appears to be based on some actual facts beyond speculation and one of the things did prove true.

I would be very surprised by this news.

Here in Canada we only get 2 options for bed/transmission combinations.

The DCLB ONLY comes in the Automatic

The DCSB ONLY comes in 6speed.

This would be the first year ever where you could get a DCSB in an auto, which is the configuration most people are buying in the US.

If this is true I think it would just be a U.S. thing.

They didn't have a DCSB auto option when i was looking.

I ended up with a 2011 DCLB auto... i'm surprised, the auto is much much better than any other auto i have driven. Though i still have my 89 4runner which is standard for when i want to have fun (which i will never give up)...

It's not new, it's not Mexico
Looks like the new Chevy Colorado will only be a six speed auto with either engine.

I purchased a 2014 TRD Sport DCSB with the 6spd on 3/1/14. The build date was January of this year.
