Is there any mods or bolt-ons that focus more on torque? Nobody really bothers with torque it seems, just HP.

    that's what I've heard

    yep

I got curious and did some reading on them and it said they're pretty much useless on a fuel injected engine, but do serve a purpose on older carborated engines. Sorry, OP.

Supercharger, turbo, or save your money. No other mod will give you more power down low which is what I assume you are going for when you say that you want torque.

I know superchargers are ungodly expensive.. And turbos need expensive supporting mods and stuff. Hmmm..

If you don't mind me asking, why do you want more torque? Tacoma's are known for a lot of things, but torque isn't necessarily one of them

From what i've read you can usually find them on craigslist for under 1km and a rebuild is 6-700 IIRC.

Its not cheap, but not as expensive as the 2nd gen blowers.

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.
Just like you, I'm only interested in mods that will improve torque, and don't care about horsepower. The best bang for the buck is long tube headers. They will make peak torque at lower rpms as well as fattening up the peak itself.

If you do put on headers... don't open up your stock exhaust with high flowing aftermarket mufflers and pipes, because when you lose backpressure, along with it you'll also give up low end torque. However, you'll likely gain more top end horsepower, but it will come at the cost of low end torque. Unfortunately no one makes long tube headers for your engine. These JBA short tube headers for your 5VZ FE 3.4 are under $500 from 4wheelparts, but will not make as much low end torque as long tubes would.

But if theres a blower, then shouldn't all back pressure be eliminated?

Okay, let me lay it out this way... You are 16 and you have got a Tacoma with the 3.4L in it. The way you are answering questions I am guessing that your budget is no more than a couple hundred bucks. Let's just say that on top of what you already have you were to get every single N/A mod available which would probably cost you around $1k (headers, fuel management, etc). What are you going to do with that additional 20 "pavement shredding" lb/ft of torque? On a truck like this you honestly probably won't even feel it. On top of it all you will have thrown off the vehicles stock exhaust scavenging and will probably lose a decent amount of torque down low. Buy a super/turbocharger or don't buy anything performance related at all unless you are just buying it for the sound or something. Go spend the $100 on getting some tail and I can almost assure you that it will pay better dividends in the future. Wait until you have a better platform for power and some real disposable income.
