Look up ipad mini install with Sony stereo on you tube. There's a Jetta install where the guy shows calling via bluetooth.

BTW, If you're using an Adroid base pad, add a wireless OBDII code reader and OBDII app and you have an Ultra/Scan gauge on your dash.

I think I'm gonna get myself a Christmas present and do this myself.

I need to find a radio bezel from a 2013 so I can cut up that one and not my stock one. Any ideas where I can find one?

 

Just use an aftermarket radio mount kit from Scosche or Metra.

Awesome work! Best looking iPad install I have seen in a Tacoma. Your choice of using that deck makes it pretty easy for retaining the functionality of a regular radio with the benefits of having an iPad in the dash, too.

I've contemplated doing something like this quite a bit, but I'm too lazy to do the work, and I would insist on obtaining a digital optical output from the iPad to my audio processor, which would likely make it difficult to have hands-free calling and radio.

 

Yeah just use a $20 metra dash kit, that's what mine started out as

 

Can you post a picture of how the sony is mounted behind the ipad?

 

It's using the stock metal mounting brackets. It fits perfectly
