Losing all that weight will help too.

Drop the bed, spare tire, doors, and anything else that isn't really needed.

Carbon fiber hood and extra stickers are even better!

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
Smaller tires Prolly the cheapest way to pic up a little acceleration. again sacrificing top end hwy mpg and appearance. same principle as regear plus less rolling resistance and weight

Down shift, all their power is at high revs. not much happening below 2 grand. If I need to pass fast in a 50 generally use 4th.

I got thinking after reading some of this tread, how fast is my tacoma? So, this afternoon we timed it 0-60. I was surprised. Now in my truck I have about 450lbs. in the bed and two guys in the front seats. My 08 trd sport 4x4 tacoma did it in 6.41seconds. If you need more speed than that, you may need to buy a sports car.

These trucks have plenty of pick up for merging on to highways. My gf has a genisis coupe and I know those are by no means fast but, I'm door to door with her till 70 and she slowly pulls ahead.

I have driven many toll roads on the East Coast, I , too, do not have a 'fast pass' or 'Ezpass', have to pull into the cash lane, never have I had to 'nail the throttle to the floor' to get back into the traffic flow...

This whole thread is wack, methinks it is just an 'age ' thing, when I was young I totally hopped up anything I drove, they really moved fast, gas was maybe .16 a gallon and I would race anything/anyone who pulled up beside me...

I got a lot of tickets too...had a lot of fun, survived to tell my story...

    Dang smiley's are not working...

    Good luck with your powerquest...

If you're worried about acceleration, then the auto is what you want. When I had my 6 speed it felt sooooo slow. Now that I have an auto it's so much quicker to get up and go. No slow shifts trying to get up to speed. Better for merging in traffic and just overall experience.

Some of you guys are hilarious....what's wrong with having more acceleration from your truck??

My acceleration improved when I re-geared and it was cheaper than a supercharger.

Thanx for all the great/hilarious suggestions =)

I'm not much into mechanics...not yet anyway. So some of the acronyms/terminology is a bit over my head (yeah...I probably should have mentioned that from the start).

It looks like the first thing I should invest in might be the supercharger...though that may be the most expensive. The cold air exhaust looks to be a fair amount cheaper...though not as effective. Maybe I'll save the exhaust and headers for last if at all.

Tub out the area behind the gas pedal too. That way you can press it down farther.

    I currently drive a 2006 manual Carolla...so I downshift periodically, but its a v4 so that doesn't get me too far =)

I just wasn't sure how effective downshifting would be. But then again my Carolla is a v4 and I'm going for a v6, so I imagine that extra umph + downshifting should give me a pretty good boost when needed.

I forgot to put in my earlier post, that 6.41second was in a 6 speed with 157000 miles on it. I think it's quick and no problems merging.
