I got the mount and wire as a "mini kit" from Firestik through Amazon. Its called the adjustable hood channel mount and included the 18' of cable. Was something like 33 bucks. Ran the cable down along the frame and up through the grommet under the driver seat.

I didn't even put the screws in mine today...my bit broke. But it is very sturdy without the screws in it. That latch bracket keeps it planted pretty well. I went and drove around too and no issues yet. Will probably put the screws in at a later date. Would this effect the grounding even if the antenna is NGP?

Oh okay I understand. I thought you meant the screws were rusting. But yeah I just tightned the bracket down on top of it and it isn't budging!

Do I have to have a screw in it so it is properly grounded? Idk if that is a factor because of the NGP antenna...

Yeah I'll probably redo the mount at some point, but this is fine for now. Anybody else have a clue abiut the potential grounding issue?

Haven't tuned it yet. Hooked it up to the radio to see if I could hear people, heard people, and disconnected it because I don't want to screw up the radio.

your isolation washer is on the wrong side of the mount. You need to isolate the signal from the mount or you end up trying to drive the entire truck as an antenna.

The only way you'll damage the CB is if you transmit for a lengthy period with a bad SWR. No harm in leaving it hooked up to listen.

That's what I did. Just take off the small bracket, put the antenna mount behind the bracket, reassemble. Took me about 3 minutes.

I have not. The bracket that goes over it holds it like a glove. I will probably go and try to fit in a screw or two in the next few days just for good measure.

Okay well I disconnected it anyway!

I bet you had similar feelings as I did when this happened...looks like yours wasn't as avoidable as mine was though haha. That's what I get for moving over to let another vehicle go by...definitely not one of my prouder moments.

You can always pick up SS bolts from the hardware store.

Though I wouldn't recommend against anything bamf, he's good people and builds quality stuff.
