yeah, i was looking at some of their stuff, buti had a big space to fill, and for a coffee table that size, we were talking the cost of two brand new 35s. almost a locker

Alexis is getting one of those shiny rock things soon, so i don't want to buy anything too supstantial (home decor wise) without her input, since 10 months from now she'll have to live in a house with it

so for now, it was repurposing a small kitchen table. i got some new table legs, cut them down to the proper length, attached them, fixed the slider rails for the center leaf, and fixed a briken piece on the end that folds down for smaller areas. then paint.

I'm sure it will involve him driving down a mountain then hopping in a chariot piloted by white horses playing a guitar solo getting a piggy bag ride from Sharon Osborne.

yeah, the california of the east coast :rolleyes:

    there are some plusses though.
    - both of our families are in VA, about an hour and a half away from the site. so probably only an hour from where we'll live.
    - the place is right on the chesapeak, and i grew up boating right in that area, so i can get a boat when we get there :)
    - the 30% raise and a weekly stipend doesn't hurt the deal :D;)

    Not. a. clue. :goingcrazy:

default option is to weld the ring into a steel box, hand her a grinder and say surprise

The shiny rock mod is expensive. It's also the next mod, so I hear what you're saying. Good man for taking her into consideration when she's 1000 miles away :)

Two budgets: one for diamond and one for the ring itself.

You start getting into serious customization - or even mild with exotic metals - and you're looking at hefty sum, and that's just for the ring itself.

The Lady doesn't care too much about that; she'd rather see that money go towards a house or an amazing honeymoon. However, I'm old school when it comes to these sorts of things and I want her to have a badass ring so I'm trying to find that happy medium.

haven't decided on what kind of boat to get yet. if i can get a place on the water with a dock, or at least a good deal on a rental slip, i'll be pickin up a sailboat for sure. a powerboat wouldn't really depend on my relativity to the water since i can just trailer it. my parents also have a hobie cat and a wakeboard boat on trailers at their place, so it won't be hard to "borrow" those :D
ideally, i think a sub 30' raceing sailboat and then a pair of jetskis would be the perfect combo to start out with

supposedly her parents have a diamond from here grandmother that i can use, but i haven't seen it in person yet, so i have no idea if it will be up to my/her standards. i'll probably see it next week when i'm back in va for turkey day though.

i'm probably not doing anything too exotic as far as the material goes, but i want to get the design perfect, and have the ring and diamond work together well. you could have a beautiful one-off setting and flawless diamond, and still have them look like shit when you mount them up.

I sure as hell hope i doesn't get up this high, but i'm mentally preparing (so i don't have a hert attack), for a 10k pricetag.

i'd like to keep it at about half that, but i know it's going to be just like the truck  .....i'll see the icon vehicle dynamics of diamonds and won't be able to leave without it.....i'm screwed :bananadead:
