It was fun. The tour guide was dressed up in 1800's attire. It was mostly a history lesson and we walked around to different areas and she talked about who died there and what the sightings there are like.

There is a room at my grandparent’s house that has a history of being haunted. As far as I’m aware my grandparent’s built this house and have been living in it for over 40 years if not more. Everyone in our family agrees that there is something in that room/wing of the house. I have to admit that when I walk into that room I get the creeps.
Well, once when I was about 6 or 7 years old I had to sleep in that room with some of my other cousins. When I was about to fall asleep I felt a hand grab my hair and pull me up towards the head board of the bed, hitting my head on the head board. The weird thing was that the bed’s head board was up against the wall and there was no way anyone was getting behind there. I looked around and found no one was awake so I just curled back under the covers shaking from fear and forced myself to fall asleep.
There are many more stories from other family members seeing things like glowing red eyes or dark figures walking about the room and crossing the hallways as well as my grandparents admitting that they have been woken up with loud bangs of pots and pans as if someone was going through their kitchen frantically looking for something.
There is definitely something there I just don’t know what.

That would scare the hell out of me! My great-grandmother lived in a very old house next to a cemetery. She was a very devout woman who always told the truth. And, she also had no doubt that there were ghosts. She lived in a small, very rural town in south GA - and I mean rural. Anyway, the cemetery was right next to her house, so close you could toss a rock into it. She never said that there were ghosts in that house (others, yes), but she said that every time someone died there, a blueish ball of light could be seen going into the cemetery. None of my family would never doubt her, so I believe that she saw something.

It does not sound like you had an encounter with Casper. But I'm no expert.

When I was younger, my best friend at the times dad used to tell us stories of when he was younger. Of visiting his Grandmother at their old home place out in the country. She would tell them to watch out for red eyes. He told us some creepy stories. This was when we were teenagers. I would ask him if he was yanking my chain, but he never confessed, but always said he was telling the truth. Maybe sometime, I'll take the time to share them.

I'm not trying to interpret your dream, but if it was me, I would take it maybe that he's watching over me.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over going on the date, it's time to forgive yourself. Instead focus on how you made it before he passed. I don't think it'd be far fetched to think your gramps would be proud you were on a date (hopefully with a hottie).

As strange and intriguing as dreams maybe, I would try and not put too much into them. And if someone told you they could tell you all about them, I wouldn't listen to them. That's just my opinion.

When I was 10 my dad, sister, and I were on our way up to Connecticut from Alabama to visit my grandparents and we stopped off to see the Gettysburg Battlefield. Pretty cool stuff from what I remember, but at the same time I got a little freaked out. We were all out walking around and looking and different things and I came up on an old wooden building with no windows or doors, I think it was a church that was reconstructed to look like a building during that time period. The only think I really remember about it though is that it was in July and it was hot and humid outside but inside the building was cold, like really cold to where I went outside to warm up. That creeped me out, but aside from that I never saw or heard anything during the few hours we were there.

I love going to Gettysburg. There were two places that I got that creeped out feeling: the Triangular field and a small field on the back of that loop. The Triangular field is where I got that image that could/could not be something in the background near the woodline (taken at dusk). I have a picture of my son pointing at something while standing in the Devil's Den while saying "look daddy, there is a ghost." Of course my wife and I saw nothing but on the pic there is a red orb. Take from it what you will, but I only think orbs are nothing more than dust... The field on the the back of the loop was downright spooky. We were driving and decided to stop and take some pictures. As I was in there, I got that feeling that I wasn't alone and got creeped out. I have said before that I don't believe in those things (if I saw one I may change my mind...), but that damn field...
As a side note, one of my ancestors was captured in the area of the Iron Triangle (I Company, 54th GA)... When I decided to go all ghosthunters and try to get some recordings, I used his name and asked for help in finding him...:anonymous:

Maybe part of me wants to believe but don't hold it against me, folks.

I would like to go back and see it all again just because last time I was there was about 20 years ago. Would be kinda neat to try and find that church looking building again and maybe spend more than just an hour or 2 there.

Wish I could get back there, but we are at a new station too far away - especially with two little ones. One day, though. Will have to look through my pictures to see if I have any of that building.

I'm gonna have to visit there over winter break, it's like 50 miles from my house.

As much as I don't wanna believe in ghosts, I kinda am obliged to after knowing one of our neighbors. She's a massage therapist and is pretty spiritual (kinda out there, but I wouldn't say she's crazy by any means). Her belief is that she's a medium, for lack of a better term. She doesn't say that, but essentially that's the jist of it. She says that everyone has a sense for the supernatural, she's just more in tune with hers than most people are. She's told us all kinds of stories that I kinda discounted at first, the most notable being her waking up in the middle of the night to a tall guy in a bike helmet standing in the doorway. She told her husband about it the next morning and scared the shit out of him cause the guy he bought the house from died in a biking accident.

She really hit home a few years ago when my uncle died. He committed suicide in his office and left a short note saying everything would be explained in his brief case. Nobody had a clue where the thing was and he never carried one to work or anything. So my mom was on her way up to the funeral and called the neighbor out of curiosity. She tries to contact my uncle and "gets through" (I've seen her do this, it's kinda weird she gets an intense expression on her face and starts talking different. She doesn't "call" them or anything like you see in seances in a movie, must all be telepathic or whatever). She tells my mom he's showing her a bed and that it's in a bedroom. So my mom gets there and pulls my aunt aside (she didn't wanna seem crazy to everyone else haha) and relays all the stuff about the bed. My aunt was just kinda shocked and was like "yeah we just found the case in the guest bedroom closet". That kinda forced me to believe, I can't explain her knowing that having never met my uncle when he was alive.

Sorry I couldn't top Doug's stories, but this is about as much as I got haha. There was one night I woke up in my house as a kid and an old lady was sitting in front of my bed in a rocking chair. I kinda dismissed it as being still half asleep and hallucinating. I'll have to ask the neighbor lady if this woman was real when I'm home next...

holy cow.. spooky thread ive been trying to catch up on this for the last few days, freaky stuff to say the least! guywithacamera, how in the world do you function i would be in a mental hospital having experienced the things you have!

i have alittle story to contribute, my mom works at this really old mill here in utah, it used to be a functioning flour mill but since has been turned into a furniture store, she is the manager there and so she always stays late to lock up and make sure everythings good to go for the next day, so one night as she was getting ready to lock up (this place is 3 stories tall) she was up in the top by the mill and saw a light going all the way down in the basement were she heard some stuff kind of banging around and it sounded like there was a full blown party going on in the basement, but she was the only one there at the time, so she went down to investigate. She walked down the stairs and saw a light under the door so she opened it to find that there was nothing there it was black and empty, (they turned the basement into offices for the employees also) so my mom talked to the owner of the place and her mom started the mill and she said that the workers would all meet up after work every once in awhile and have a party in the basement, i would've been scared by this but my mom still says that it was a good experience to show that not all ghosts are bad she said it was a very happy feeling not anything dark or scary.

kinda cool to think that theres not all bad spirits and ghosts roaming the afterlife.

I'm only on page 24 of reading through the thread but I'm starting to think that Dejavu is our subconscious sensitivity to what our minds are capable of and what our energy/spirit is connected to in the cosmos. I've had dejavu way more times than I can even recall and sometimes my "premonition" doesn't pop up until months later when I make the connection that "damn that was the exact scene and events that I had dreamt about, however these are almost always daydreams that make their reappearance which is odd, like if I am sitting around very relaxed and let my mind wander I guess everything around me tunes out and I daydream for lack of a better expression, and sometimes those scenarios turn out to be true. I was always told that dejavu in that sense just means that we are following our life path that we choose, not that our fate is predetermined, but that we are making progress toward what our minds want us to acheive and that there is a definite choice to be made that can change the outcome of every one of those dejavu experiences, which always bring me down to earth real quick, where I stop and say "fuck i remember this exactly... is something about to happen or am I just focused on my plan for being on earth" For example, soon before I ever had kids or was dating (partying college kid) I had an emotional dream where I was holding a baby that had a distinct soft smell (and I did not like children before I had my own they were noisy, smelly, and rude), well within a year or so I ended up having a daughter and the soft smell of her brought me back to what I had "prophesized" in my dreams. Just something to think about, that we are all sensitive to some point to what lies in the deepest oldest parts of our mind, but if we are not open or accepting of the fact then we will probly tune out supernatural encounters, where spirits or whatever sense that we are either aware of them or not, but peeps like Guywithcamera who are extremely sensitive seem to have a gift I think. On another note, I read several of Sylvia Browns books about dreams and spirits, and was very skeptic of what she proposed, but she has some good explanations that make sense about certain things I've personally experienced, other things she claims I do not beleive, but she gives a good insight into the supernatural. Now i have to read the rest of the thread but it keeps growing... thanks for the experiences everyone, and the funny pics too it keeps it lighthearted cause this shouldn't be a hot debate like religion this is just sharing experiences and trying to have fun.

edit: why do I always write a novel in this thread, i just really like the subject :)
