Valuable words to live by. Sometimes you just have to lobotomize yourself to the whole deal though.

Besides, let's face it: her boobs can't be more expensive than her wedding ring.

Lol you're definitely right about that, brother. Just have to budget wisely and make a smart purchase. But barring anything major, it's going to be sometime this coming year and we are both pretty excited about that.

The kid better make good grades, be an athlete, or join the military. That's all I gotta say.

We're with you on the wedding though. I'm a little more traditional than she is, so I like the formal wedding idea, but she doesn't care for it. So we've talked about ours being a road trip to either Colorado, Arizona, or Montana, as we want something simple yet intimate in a beautiful environment. We'll spend money on the after party when we get back since that's what everyone is going to care about anyways.

grades, meh. i sure as hell won't ever say this to my future kids, but grades aren't all that important. you'd better damn well have a 4.0 if that's all you've got going for ya, but there are many many other criteria that will make you successful before grades. of course you can't have junky grades. people just put a false amount of weight on you grades and how influential they are on getting a job. i only finished college with a 3.0. i just had a lot of other aspects working in my favor when it came to getting jobs.

maybe in the business or liberal arts world. but in the engineering/technical world, it's 100% about what you know.
and just becuase the guy next to you has a higher gpa, doesn't mean he knows nearly as much as you do......and employers know that.

Even in the engineering/technical world, "it's not what you know it's who you know" is as common place and important as anywhere. Yes, as with every industry, a high GPA doesn't equate to higher level of knowledge or competence. And yes, people know (one way or another) who are the real deal... But knowing the right people always helps.

A college education is one of the most overrated scams out there. Granted some jobs absolutely require one, but for the most part 40% (maybe higher) of people don't need one. Instead technical training is more job specific and a shitload cheaper. And you'll be better prepared for the work skills you need.

If you don't need a degree, don't get one. Starting life out with $60,000+ worth of debt is insane, especially if your desired field doesn't need one.

    Just sayin...

yeah, i shouldn't have been so absolute. it is never a bad thing to know people. but it is entirely possible to land a dream job without any "hookups". just have to have the motivation and drive.

it's an "i'd rather be lucky than good" kind of thing. lucky (knowing people) is fantastic, but good (knowing your stuff and having the drive), is much more reliable and consistant.

i agree, a lot of people don't need one for what they want to do. and getting one just for the sake of it is pointless. especially if you're just going to get a major with no job market.

however, i wouldn't call it over rated. people simply just don't utilize their resources during college correctly, and fail to go about the whole experience with the proper mindset and goals.

there are people who get ripped off in college, and people who can properly work with the system and their abilities to get through without a stretched out butthole. I went to a private engineering college. they are notorious for being expensive as hell. i think if you paid full tuition, it was almost 40k for a standard 2 semester year. however, you do your part, there is no way you'll pay nearly that. the trick is to get all of the discounts/scholarships/breaks you can, and work your butt off both in school and at a job the entire time. I spent 5 years at that school and don't have a penny of debt. people are just far too lazy and end up going about college all wrong.....for them, it is overrated.

a lot of that is kids who are getting free rids from their parents. nothing against those folks for that, but they tend to new respect or understand the true cost of going to school. however i have seen people who are paying their own way (on loans) also flunk out. they were just morons though. and being an engineering school, it wasn't like there was something easier to switch to if things went south. first semester of freshman year, my class had 1200 people in it. i graduated with just over 500.....one hell of an atrition rate. that's 700 people who paid good money and have nothing to show for it. sad really.

dagum! if those were sport wheels at that price, i would have bought them from you yesterday

So much deep to go through.

10 sandies caught at the tc dike. Not bad considering how chilly it was.

Also radio shack SUCKS for anything and everything electronic. How best buy and Amazon haven't squashed them yet is beyond me.

Now for the sliders, windshield repair and maybe the soft top if I can find the time between taxes and a pending lawsuit.

Fuck. It's enough to make a dude re-up....

    Almost.

i agree, i'm amazed RS is still in business. only reason i ever go in there is for solder, LEDs, and other circutry compenents. and i highly doubt people like me are keeping them afloat.
