There is 'Law Enforcement' and there is law enforcement. For me, 'Law Enforcement' starts with this fine document and works it's way down.

Now there is law enforcement that includes, What do I need to do to get my 'fair share' of Federal Funds in the name of law enforcement. That is the same place that 'Law Enforcement' tends to wane.

I know I'm old fashioned and I'm okay with that. :)

Nope, nope not at all offended. I'm all about reading thoughts and opinions on controversial topics! In fact, I'd be all about being able to have the topic restrictions removed from TW so long as people could control themselves.

And talking about slippery slope... You're correct, which part of our Constitution will be RE interpreted next???

My neighbor had his car broken into. The police came and took DNA samples of all the members of the household. I told him that I would have never done that. As much as I like this technology. Remember a guy named OJ Simpson? IIRC he was almost sent to prison for a mistaken DNA sample... Okay maybe that was a bad example.

The funny thing is that I would be the last guy to be affected by this. And, they already have my DNA and fingerprints due to my work with Make-A-Wish. I am not afraid of this for me but I am worried about the direction of our nation under the guise of 'What is best for the masses.' Oh the humanity.

Because it is not voluntary. Much like the rhetoric from most politicians and attorneys, it is in Title Only. Much like the Save the Kittens bill that allows people to shoot their dogs.

They say it's voluntary but they use passive methods. Oh the slippery slopes we ski on.

When you get pulled over and taken in for DUI/OVUII(drinkin or being high), you have to submit to a blood, breath, or urine test…without doing so is mandatory jail time. I would never do a blood test, but just making you do it is a way of power being taken from you.

My interpretation of voluntary is that you can refuse the sample , which is the case here , I do understand your point though

Didn't you rescind some of your power when you decided to break the law by driving impaired ?

The picture used on the first post isn't really representative of the situation described in the television piece.

Same here in CA. We have to sign the Implied Consent Law when we apply for a DL.

As I say, I'm not afraid of the laws on the surface. I am certain that 99% of LEO have a pretty good grasp on their jobs. I fit the bell curve so I am, once again, not too concerned. I do get concerned when some LEOs take it upon themselves to fill in the blanks on their own. Oh how I missed the days when law enforcement was much more about managing and supporting a community than managing a budget, grants and political initiatives. :) I know there are good LEOs everywhere... sometimes they get driven by politics and that can influence actions in a negative way.

Look at places like LA that only want to enforce the laws that the politicians want and not the laws... IE not impounding cars from 'undocumented' but impounding from 'documented.' WTF?

Programs like the DNA deal will be misused - mark my words. :) :(

Much like the title of the Bill that probably initiated this action. I am just being inline with their tactics.

They do that up here in Sonoma County as well. Why the hell do we have to pay insurance and registration, while certain people here do not.

Implied consent is attached to probable cause. Driving and deception is another thing. I personally think I will keep my windows up the next time I go through one. Why not. :) Okay maybe I don't have the balls to do that but I am a fan of those that do. The last time I saw a video like that. The arrested him for being drunk but was not. lol :(

Only if you are lawfully arrested for committing a crime as outlined above. And although I have played on on TV, I am not an attorney.

The first and last OVUI, I was pulled over coming out of town later at night and he said I was speeding, although it was only a few miles over the speed limit. My heel-to-toe steps was done on a gravel shoulder and I have a slur. Went in, walked free. I was kinda mad, but knew I didnt have anything to worry about. I also didnt have insurance cards(I think I had the printed copy but was messy) so that was even more a reason.

Yeah, I agree they need to do some kind of testing since they will have no other way to prove it, but it was an example. ;)

Federal grants are a major driving force down here…all the click it and ticket campaigns, MADD fueled check points…a bunch of DUI check points. I think where im from has the most guys who get busted for DUIs though.

Federal Grants are also the same reason for your EBT issues there. Oh yeah the Islands like the 'commission' for handing it out but now it seems they are getting a bit weary... or if they do successfully send people back to the mainland it's only to bring on new ones that may be more profitable.
