Yea the only reason I'd move is if I'm moving out west, and for that to happen I'd have to have no more family around here.

Building it myself. I don't really need much as far as loft storage or shelves in the shed, mostly just need floor space to be able to park a riding mower and snow blower in the future, bikes, wheel barrow, that kinda shit. Then I'll hang a backpack blower, chain saw, rakes, shovels, etc on the walls. The overhang will be a place to stack extra firewood, maybe lumber, maybe hang a hammock, and then the landscaping will start at the edge of the overhang and wrap around to the patio.

I'd stick with pivot doors to keep the rodents & weather out. Sliders don't seal to well and are easy to "jimmy" open.

I'd just get a permit. Should be super easy. Worst case get a permit for whats allowed and just build something else. At least if you sell your house years from now you could claim the municipality screwed up.

Yea I'm gonna see what happens with the doors. Tractor supply has barn door hardware that looks like it should do the job pretty well. If I change my mind it's easy enough to add some hinges instead.

In all honesty though, barn doors would be more secure than hinged doors. The ramp into the shed would be designed to keep the bottom of the door in a "track" and a heavy duty latch would keep them closed. If I decided to add a lock someone would need to cut the lock to get in. With hinged doors they could unscrew the screws holding the hinges to the door ( if decorative hinges on outside of door like <|> ) or pop the hinge pin if using a typical door hinge found in a house.

Actually pretty cool. You can tell via wireless if someone opens a padlock all the way up to opening a window.

If The Purge has taught me anything it's that those who specialize in high security doors and systems makes a door that a truck can take out in one blow. Seriously though the dude makes millions of dollars and is the top security system specialist and can't even lock down his house properly?

 

The key is to not have anything protruding from the door to hook onto and yank from. That whole movie was technically garbage.

Screw trying to secure an entire house. It's not feasible with today's shit construction. I could get into all the houses in my hood with my chainsaw. Walk right up and just cut a door way in.

They would of been A-OK if they had a fire rated safe room in the basement. Silly movies.
