Hell, I'm a structural engineer. If I really wanted to get retarded I could throw this thing into Algor (FEA software) and see how it would hold up.

There probably is a gap between hood and the windshield wipers that could be used. Either that spot, or just make it removable.

 

I know I saw it before, but I wouldn't mind having another gander at it. When and where?

 

you could also drill a 1 1/8" hole through the top of the fender and build an internal cross member if you gotz dem fab skillz. It would allow you to open up the hood still too 100%

 

why not just make a reverse style hood and have bar go across the gap between the hood and windshield wipers and have the bars conform to the windshield?

I'm not throwing stones, but I don't think, nor would I want to drive my rig into a hole bigger than it is. Granted I'm sure this wasn't anticipated. Good God, that's a big rut!!!

Correct. With custom headlight protection and center hoop matched to the grille. I also had Billy raise the two lower supports to the tube about 2 inches from his normal spot he welds them. Gave me just a bit more clearance but had to add more support
