Hi guys. Well....as of last Monday, I am no longer employed as a Deputy Sheriff with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. Some of you know what happened. I am secure with what I did and the fact the my actions saved another man's life. I could not stand by and allow him to be beat to death, even if I was not on duty. I chose to resign instead of deal with the politics and red tape to fight their intent to terminate me. I am officially requesting a user name change at this time. I've spoken to Chris about it and we've come up with another one. Since I am an American Veteran, who served 8 years as a Field Artilleryman, I am requesting the name to be Steel Rain. Artie rounds are made of steel and when enough howitzers are fired off, it's like Steel Rain.

I don't know all the circumstances, but knowing you, you did what was right. It's too bad that you had to resign due to all of the red tape around doing what was right. Keep your head up. This all happened for a reason. I'm sure there is something better in the works for you.

I'm doing better guys. I've accepted a new job already and am in the process of getting through the application process. Just need to get my medical exam done and drug screen completed. Then give them a direct deposit slip for my pay. I'm looking a almost doubling my take home pay and will be doing some REALLY COOL work. I can not disclose exactly what I will be doing, but I will be traveling across the U.S. and possibly over seas.

    Curt,

You're a great man. I believe in my heart great things are coming your way. Stay strong my friend.

Here's a quote I got from a mentor almost 20 yrs ago, "Doing what's right isn't always popular; and doing what's popular isn't always right."

You did right. I admire and respect your courage.

Things are getting better. I am dealing with allowing my ex-wife's husband to adopt Ethan. Should anything happen to my ex, he would be torn away from everything he knows. He has 2 younger brothers now and she has been making it extremely difficult for me to visit him. It's hard being a dad across the US. I am making the choice to not disrupt his life and allow him to grow. I hope that one day, he will seek me out and that he will know that I never stopped loving him. His mother does not teach him about me, so I am a complete stranger to him.

    To Montana too?!?! :)

    Awww...poor Boydster.
I hope that he is smart enough to know that it wasn't your choice to not be in his life and that, once he's old enough to travel on his own, he will seek you out and try to make up for lost time.
Hang in there Copper (can I still call you "Copper"?), we love ya!

And yes, there are good chances I will be all over the U.S.

However, I will not be able to disclose where I am at or what I am doing. I would love to get together with you guys in person, should the opportunity permit. And yes Lisa that means you too. I want Pizza from that place we had dinner at. Can't believe how good it smelled in there.
