I have ruts on either side of my driveway. I've driven off the driveway twice and jammed the mud flaps. I took them off this mourning and noticed some of the tabs were broken off. It looks open to crud around the fenders now, any worries of rust now?

I live on a hill, the driveway is lined with oak trees, and the driveway is at an "S" curve. I usually back out, relatively fast. I had to add that before I got all the crappy driving replies. ha

Is there a process to remove the tacky "4x4" white print from the rears. Hoping to do this without discoloring the black in the process. Or.....If they are trimmed just above the 4x4 stenceling are they still effective as far as helping to prevent paint damage?

Most solvents will wipe that white paint right off. Try paint thinner or goo-gone. If they got trimmed above the lettering i don't think they'd be much protection.

I have 265/70/17 tires going on this week, hope I can leave the mud flaps, even if I do some minor trimming .

They really keep alot of crap from spraying onto the truck.

    "White truck problems " :p

OP: You will remove the mud flaps because it will improve aerodynamics. You will gain about 0.08 MPG. :D

Well I went out and cut 4" off the bottoms of all 4. It got rid of the 4x4 BS. I put a radius on the corners and they look great. Fronts are still an inch longer than the backs, same as the OEM lengths were. Leaves 7" below the fenders, and 6" below the box sides. Looks like it will nicely kept the crap off the exhaust tip as well. Overall a better appearance as far as I'm concerned.

    Back to mudflaps...

I just took mine off, after getting new 265/70/17 installed.

They were very close to rubbing when turning the wheel, & undoubtedly would rub when off-roading.

But after less than 48hrs without them, I'm already trying to find 8-10mm sheets of rubber to cut custom ones out of.

Heard 2 nice-sized rocks bounce of the door today, fuk that nonsense...

    :(
