So when you decompress the zip folder there are three files, DDX8_1_1.7.0.ruf, DDX8_2_0013.img, DDX8_3_.img. I'm assuming you write the ruf file to disc for the upgrade but I don't want to screw it up since it could render the unit unusable. Any one updated the firmware yet? I'm especially excited at the attempt to improve the sluggish user interface.

Also, I notice that when I go to System>Information>Bluetooth Software and push the update button the unit just sits there and thinks for while. Is there an update available for the bluetooth module?

I wrote all three to disc with no issues. Just follow the instructions on the website to the T and you will be good. All in all a good update, a lot snappier.

Good luck, only recommendation is to have the truck running when installing the update. If there is an issue installing the unit will show something oN the screen and then it will prompt you to try again.

Jace - thanks for the advice. You try updating the bluetooth module?

No I haven't. I'll do it after I'm back from Florida.

    Good luck with updating.

So the software update worked great. Seems a bit faster. Bluetooth on the 9140 is the 1.70 version and I think that's the latest version for it on kenwood's site so probably no need to flash the bluetooth.

Ok, after a few days of the update I've noticed functions have slowed back down a bit. About the only thing that seems "faster" is navigating between folders and files in USB mode. Is it just me or is the bluetooth connection less than desireable? My phone connects when I start up my truck but after one call or text in most cases it seems like it loses connection. I've reset the pairings and the unit itself on several occassions but can't get it to improve. I have the latest bluetooth module version so I'm wondering if it's an issue of the kenwood or my phone. Anyone else seen similar problems with the update and bluetooth?
