I'll check it out. I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron so if it's possible I'll get it done lol. Was amazed the other night out in the mountains that it wasn't lit. Thanks!

Its the fact that you cannot shine light through solid plastic. The 4x4 writing is silk screened over plastic, in the 05-11's it is opaque plastic so the light can shine through.

Are the switches and housings the same or did they change them on the new ones?

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I'm pretty sure RCBS has tried to figure it out. The switch is solid in 2012 and later. Maybe a retrofit to a 2011 or older switch??

That's what I was thinking. Does the older switch and housing that is clear then silk screened fit the new ones? If so it might be better to go that route if they are still available.

I personally have not seen a 2012+ switch in person, but I have had two people/ Beta testers try and install my light in there switches, and they were not successful. If it was a simple PCB change, it would have been done 2 years ago. There is one guy on here who used a 4runner switch, but it was around $100 or so to make it happen. That is not worth it to most people. Oldmantan is correct, if I could figure a path to light the switches, it would be done!

Understood. Maybe a different route like glow in the dark writing/sticker similar to what they use on gun night sights... I don't think that stuff is cheap either lol. Dang you 05-11 guys :D

I got mine mostly installed today. Not wired yet though. It is raining cats and dogs in florida right now so instead of going to class I sat in the parking lot and got it in using just my leatherman. Still trying to decide wether to sider or just hook it up. I will post pics when completely done

EDIT: Got it all wired up and it works great. When darkness comes pictures will also come.

Sure did, I ran out of boxes, so I shipped nine units today. For those that are waiting, they all went out the door this morning.
    Thanks,
    Shannon

Ordered last night! One question - when you're splicing it into the factor harness behind the AC controls, do you use one of those quick splice things (I can never get them to work), or strip and solder?

I've also ordered a Fly Eye Design light, so it's going to be getting a little busy down there. Any other locations you could recommend splicing it into?

I strip and solder most al my connections for reliability. I have have never really sourced another location for hooking up the light. If still had had my truck, I would run out to the garage and figure a new location. Sorry I could not be of more help.
    Regards,
    S

Strip and solder is the best option but for those that don't have the tools crimp connector will work as well. I am a big fan do the j-hook connection. You could cut the wire to your AC panel and do a two v two j-hook weigh both the switch and you fly eyez. Make sure to slide your heat shrink over two of the wires before you solder or your stuck wrapping it with tape. Just my opinion, if you want a permanent install.

I tried this in my 2013 Baja and it will not work. After completely pulling the switch apart the final issue was the outside bezel on the switch is made of black plastic, with the sliver screen printed over it, so even if I installed the lights they would never shine through. Toyota really cheaped out on the 2013 Taco on so many levels.
I have just ordered an FJ lighted switch to see if that will work, it looks like the same switch dimensionally and will try to install between Christmas and New Year.
Anyway props to the LED install, really good quality and well put together, just a shame it wont work in the 2013
