Slow day at work, my General Manager gave me his office to setup a lab. So I've been using my MacBook Pro speakers for music and it sounds fucking horrible. After a good hour of tweaking everything, this is the best sound you can get from a MacBook Pro's speakers. I'm not sure how well this sounds on the brand new MacBook Pro's yet but on the 2011's and below it sounds decent enough to listen to.

Edit: This setting SUCKS for headphones.

So he gave you his office to work. And you spent it EQing your MacBook speakers?

He told me to build a Lab, took me about 2 hours this morning to set everything up. Yet not one single person from my team is in the office, or has been in the office all week.

The lab was built to test the new software release but Development hasn't sent it to us yet. Until they do there isn't much I can do today. I get tomorrow off so I might just go home now.

Id be interested in that as well. My Pioneer isn't old at all, but the new app radios have me intrigued

The app radio's typically have shitty sound output. I know 1 and 2 versions were just crap. Like 30$ HU crap. It wouldn't shock me if App Radio 3 is crap as well. If you care about the quality of your sound App Radio will not suffice.

I like that 8500. 4v preouts make a huge difference.

Yeah the 2v was a huge reason why I was hesitant on the app radio model. Looking into the 8500 and the Z150 now because of that. How is the sound quality over bluetooth? And what kind of strides has pioneer made in the past 4 years in sound processing.

Sound over bluetooth will always be crappy. A2DP streaming just never is good. It strips all the low/high's out to compress the sound so it streams better. It makes no sense as A2DP streaming has plenty of bandwidth to play with. The best BT streamer I've seen was at a house, had a $500 price tag on it and still didn't sound as good as a 3.5mm cable to RCA right into the receiver. BT is convenient, but that is it.

As for sound processing over the last few years. Pioneer Stage 4 HU is outright amazing. 31 band EQ, 24bit DAC and a 32bit DSP.... Only if it came in a double din.

If it were me, I'd get the AVH8500 and either the Kicker Front Row, or an Audison bit 1 or bit 10. Those Audison's give you a 31 band EQ for each speaker. Full independent control, millisecond time alignment, again

hmmmmm, with already using the memphis amps as my control, with fine tuning at the HU would not the kicker and audison be overkill within the confines of my reg cab? Or will the audison clean up my signal?

The kicker just allows you to sound stage better but cleans up the sound a bit.

The Audison is fucking amazing. After I get my K2 power 2ohm's for the front the Audison is next on my list. I have the software for it and its overwhelming how much control you get. I tune with my Amps and leave my EQ on my HU flat for the best sound, you'd have the same setup and use the Audison to tune from there. You need to plug it into a laptop for it to work. I heard a guys ride when this first came out and the sound output it gave was out right amazing.

    It's expensive.

SO then the audison would become my full tune. Hmmmmmm, as my setup currently stands I use my Memphis amps to control my focal 3-ways. If I went with the audison would it be advantageous for me to rework my setup to not use the amps as my crossovers then? And jesus this is going to get pricey yet again. Already have 3k in my stereo........

Yup Audison would take over for tuning. Download the software and see what it can do. Worth every penny but yeah, gets expensive fast.

Well you convinced me, will do the 8500 unless I can come by a Z150 for cheap. And adding the Audison to the wish list.

You will not be disappointed with the Audison.

Someone in Audio/video thread is selling a bit 10 for 275$ right now. Not as good as the bit 1 but it works great.

Savin for the adjustable coil overs first then focus on finish my bobber project, again. BUELL parts arent cheap. Ill get on an audio/video forum and lurk the sale thread when I have the time and money to make the new switch. Girl will be stoked when I swap for the pioneer as she will get my eclipse GPS touchscreen.
