well got a call from Toyota...and the problem was the fuel pump, lets just say that I'm not getting my rear bumper w/vertical spare holder now lol

 

Dam that sucks, dont think the mud did that though.
Just bad timing. Screw it at least it isn't something
more serious

 

I'm curious, is fuel pump related to mudding at all? or just coincidence

 

I don't think it is. The only way I can see the mudding being
related to the fuel pump failing is if he got stuck real bad
and had to power out of the mud for a while.
Straining a already weak pump.

But I think even that is a little far fetch. ..

 

thats what I was kinda thinking, it may have been bad gas or something that just happened to get in there...I wouldnt think that mud would make it into there, if so I would be having more issues than I am having

 

AMTs FTW! Okay, yeah, I said an ignition OR Fuel system problem which pretty much encompasses a majority of stuff that could go wrong, but still...

Bummer about the hit to your wallet though.

any suggestions on some good brake pads that arent too expensive? Toyota was sayin that I need new brake pads when they called about my fuel pump being out after the diagnosis

 

Toyota pads are fairly inexpensive. I think last time we talked about this in this thread I found them for like $84 or something like that. I would pay that to stick with factory pads.

I don't think so but I would have to check to confirm that.

$19 Stant 10504 Stant Regular Locking Fuel Cap, black

Stant 10504 to prevent fools from messing with my gas tank. Drove 5 miles after putting it on to see if it would throw a CEL, and it did not. I assume that means I'm good?

 

5 miles isn't enough.. Takes what they call 2 trip cycles to set an evap code. Typically we drive them 10 miles, shut them down and do it again at varying speeds.

 

Good info. I'll try this tomorrow. Hopefully no issues, from all my research I've got the right cap, just some people get the CEL and some don't, luck of the draw type situation.
