2005+ 12" LIFT KIT

I traced the IP addresses of the 8 functional votes back to hawaii.

 

Why all the hostility towards Hawaii lifted trucks? It all boils down to personal preference.

 

I'm from Hawaii and I didn't vote for functional. But if you think about the purpose of a lift, its normally to fit larger tires. The larger the tires, the higher you can raise the lowest point of the truck, which is the rear axle. So with taller and wider tires, (and 4X4) you can get into deeper sand before you bury the axle and get stuck.

As for the truck in the pics, I think the function comes second to looks. Some people would rather build a truck to show off their $$$ than ride around in a luxury car. I don't see why not, everyone should drive whatever they like regardless of what others think.

 

^^^ This is true but you can still fit 35s on a mild 3" lift. Besides, what fun would it be if everyone had a 3" lift on this site...BORINGGGGG

Sure, but you'd be doing chopping, the extreme version of trimming. Still wouldn't be able to run a 12" wide wheel or wider tires.
Very true, everyone has different tastes and uses for their tacomas.
Funny though, I don't see much people hating on xrunner owners trying to make a sporty truck into lowriders...

 

Honestly.... I'd rather have that truck over a limited edition.... So much hate might as we'll add the Tacoma dipped in chrome into this thread.

 

I'm from Hawaii as well and running a 6" fabtech lift with 33's and 20x12 fuel hostages. That's MY liking because it's MY truck. Would I have done the above mentioned setup, probably not, but it's sick because it's different. A 12" lift on a taco is killa IMO as far as looks are concerned. I just don't understand the negativity.. We all drive Tacos and were all enthusiasts..

 

I'm curious as to how many Tacoma owners run this lift? How long has this 12" lift been available?

 

Asstard lift, I wouldn't spend the money on it if it was given to me. There is no way that rig could make it to where we climbed this weekend...plus the 6 hours in the rain/sleet highway.

yes; but, once you pass a certain height you're negating most of those benefits by absolutely screwing the balance and maneuverability of the vehicle
which... will probably make you get stuck more than i do in my completely stock-mobile
that is, unless you're dumping SUBSTANTIALLY more money into it than this

 

I don't think anyone with that lift needs maneuverability. I just responded to someone with one form of functionality. Sure there may better options for off roading, but to take a stock taco on 31s to 37s, I don't see a cheaper option.

it's all about looks, of which, i said, i wouldn't argue about... all preference

i think we're just going to be going in circles here: when i speak of "function" in a 4x4 vehicle: i consider balance and maneuverability 2 of the key components of that term

so, to completely negate those two for the sake of 37s, to me, is not functional...

When someone lifts to that extreme, that to me screams attention whore. Just don't act surprised when the attention one draws isn't all positive.

 

A truck like that cant be even used as a truck. Not practical, not even close. A joke if you ask me. Would like to see that run a trail.
