Ugh dropped $500 today alone in replacement parts for my truck and another $350 in the next few weeks. I hate blowing that much money on stuff that's not upgrading

ouuuch the clutch shouldn't be too hard to install though so at least that's good. theres a guy on dr that sells optimas for 100 if you ever need another one. mine works great

 

Ya I saw that before didn't feel like driving to la for a battery that could be questionable quality. But ya hopefully will do the clutch this weekend if it gets here/have the time this weekend

So I know a few of u guys ride dual sports....I'm thinking about getting one for my round trip 20 mile work drive, to dick around on some trails, and later to bring on a trailer with the taco when I get a trailer I never really for into riding moto but did ride a Honda 650 enduro up and down the street and jumped off some curbs lol. Basically what are you guys riding? Been looking at some of the newer 250 4strokes but not sure if they will have the get up I'm looking for. On the other hand a 650 or such may be a tad much for newb.... Open for suggestions or comments. I'm basically 6' (5'11 3/4") and 185-190.

i have a suzuki dr350 with a 390 bb kit, highrise camshaft, headers and exhaust (plus bars guards rims led etc blah blah). kicks ass around town, not the fastest top speed wise, im topping out at comfortable revs at about 65-70 with 15/39 gearing, but its nice and light and tossable. too small for me though, ill be upgrading pretty soon to something with some more power/taller seat height, just so i wont be pinning it everywhere to mob.
the fi 250's are cool but too slow imho, for your height/weight i'd look towards something in the 400-650cc range, especially if your commute is on the highway at all. basically honda/yamaha 400, drz400 (although not very fast, good starter bike though), any of the 450's if you don't mind maintenance, then of course the honda 650's or ktm 640's, but theyre on the heavy side for mostly trail use, although better powered for street.
could use more details... how much of the commute is fwy? how much dirt vs street do you plan (ratio wise)? what's your budget? there's good used 650s on the market right now, but a ktm 525 will be lighter and still powerful, albeit more expensive.
i'll be selling mine soon because i can make a bit of money on it and want something a little faster, just so i don't have to get on it so hard sometimes. although as they say, its more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow !

 

Nice little rain in our local mountains…left some good sized muddy sections on West Camino. Did a quick little run to the pine trees (some random section where I saw my first "tow off" with a bunch of country folk (saying it nicely) in a giant mud section burning their wheels while trying to beat each other. First time taking the truck in mud- pools pretty deep, big splashes over the cab. Now I've finally broken her in and got some mud on her. Felt good. Saw a nice sunset, then headed home to get ready for work. The rain helped wet the dirt surface so it's not so god awful dusty as it has been for awhile. Get out today if you can and enjoy the mud while it lasts! My friend in his 2wd pre runner did all the same stuff I did, except he spun his wheels more but never got stuck

It will be mostly street in the beginning, but trailed at some point. Kinda been on back burner for a while, so we'll see what I decide when it happens

 

pick up 2 single battery boxes from viking. they are the tits, i love them. cant wait to mount them, moving the front battery to the rear now in the tool box. hopefully by xmas ill have my new 12,000lb winch as well. time to get a hitch made for the front of the truck. also picked up a pair of pro armor harnesses
