Here to Tucson is about 15 hours... Add a couple more to get to Phoenix.

Few years ago I drove from Tucson to Maryland and it was about 34 hours total driving time... Took 3 days to do it stopping every 12 hours or so.

besides the long drive how was it experience wise? nice scenery cool shit? or was it more so god damn it i cant wait til i get there and gtfo of my truck type of deal

edit: mapquest says from arlington to phoenix is 15 hrs and then from phx to richmond is 35-37 hours

my main reason for asking is pretty much trying to decide if i should kill 2 birds with 1 stone or should i space the trips out like originally planned

Never trust the eta estimates on time. That's an equation based on what they think the posted speed limit is. The drive to Phoenix is nice and about 3 hours from tucson. We used to make the drive when I lived there. Like any desert it's not too terribly scenic but hit it around dusk or dawn and you get some amazing colors. Space your trips out so you can actually do shit and see shit.

Don't plan your trips based on waking up early either. You're gonna hit traffic and have to stop to pass and get gas and if you drive tired it makes for a bad day. When I was younger and dumber I used to do the trip from camp Pendleton to Galveston straight. 23 hours of driving. Not worth it.
