Just started watching yesterday...Pretty interesting show. I know they are trying to prevent whale poachers but what do they throw at the ships?

I'm watching it now. Looks like they threw some bottles with Sulfuric Acid (not sure what for) and they just threw out a buoy line to tangle up the propeller.

They throw "stink bombs" at the ships. I just read a good article about this in an issue of Outside Magazine.

They throw Butyric Acid smells like rancid butter, and some powder that turns slippery when wet.

I've read in some other forums that they throw muriatic acid and rancid butter. I've watched a few episodes and I absolutely love the fact that someone is trying to intervene.

I love this show, and so far they have thown a type of acid that smells terrible and taints the whale meat. Also they threw some type of cellulite powder that when wet prevents you from standing because its so slippery, and the idiots try and wash it off they only make it worse. but yeah i love this show unfortunately i dont think there are too many more shows

If you ask me, I think they are terrorists. as for poaching. that's pretty iffy. they call it poaching in what the sea Shepard organization refers to as a sanctuary/wildlife preserve. similar to if i went out on a boat in my nearby river and claimed no one could fish in a certain spot. what gives them the authority?

There are 13 shows this season (7 last season) right now the 6th episode is the last aired. The Whalers really stepped up their game this year with some defenses, nets and a acoustic device.

Many country's do recognize the ban on commercial whaling, The Japanese use a loop hole that allows them to kills whales in the name of research, also any meat killed for research can not be wasted therefor leading to the sale of whale meat in Japanese markets.

It's a good show...I always bypassed when flipping channels but decided to watch it yesterday. I watched the episode when the Captain apparently was shot. Looked like a hoax to me?

the guy on the show with the little stash and accent is funny to me when he starts ranting to the noobs on the ship.."if you fall over board into the icy water you will die before we have the time to save you" i would think they would already know that :p

If you had commercial fishermen on that river fishing a type of fish to extinction then go ahead and park your boat.

There is no reason for the Japanese to be killing whales. What, tuna isn't good enough for them?

Because of the moratorium on commercial whaling by the International Whaling Commission they can't even call it fishing. They have to have
"research" hunts which are conducted by the "Institute of Cetacean Research". What are they researching? To see how long it takes a whale to die after being harpooned? Other countries can study whales without killing them, why can't they?

I find it amusing how awful the entire crew of the ship is at being a crew member of a ship...

I also believe that they don't have the authority to do what they do. Because they are using a loop-hole, don't you think it's up to the International Whaling Commision to close the loop hole?

Banning the sale of whale meat would certainly be a good start...

Those jackasses are nothing but pirates.

While the Japanese are using a questionable practice to exploit a loophole to do what they are doing- The no-talent clowns off the Sea Shepard are only putting them selves and the guys on the other boats at risk. And I don't really care much about whales when you are putting other human lives at risk doing something you have no legal authority to do.

If someone declares a fish species or area closed and it is under the jurisdiction of one country- There are police/game commissioners/wardens to enforce that. The clowns off that boat are NOT the commissioners in this case...and they aren't very smart either. There is a reason much of their crew rotates fairly quickly....

The people onboard are volunteers and they're probably just dragged off the streets. Some of them - makes me wonder if they're just taking a 'free ride'.

The Sea Shepard has as much authority to do what they do then the Japanese have in killing the whales. As long as they're abiding by the rules of the mother country (Dutch). Who cares? Besides, if they were doing things illegally & wrong - they wouldn't have a leg to stand on (or money to keep going).

Ya know...International laws don't mean shit. If they did - nobody would be killing whales.

I highly doubt anyone would ban the sale of Whale meat. There's just too much economics/demand in that market in those countries.
