Anza Borrego 12/12 - 12/18

Hello California TW peoples....myself and Germ and his wife will be hitting Anza Borrego 12/12 - 12/18 and would like some suggestions of must see places/hikes or must drive trails while out there. Any suggestions or info you could provide would be great and thanks in advance

 

Buy Lowell Lindsay's book on Anza Borrego. Search Amazon to find it. Economical and informative.

 

Ill probably meet up with you guys Saturday morning. We'll do the tour of Sandstone, Broken Shaft, Diablo and Heart Attack hill

Tyler are this trails/area's stock height friendly? Germ is stock height but has skids

He be aight, sliders? I've gotten near stock rigs thru most if this, had a lot of rain recently tho so we'll see, changes in 30 mins
Satin is a great spotter too, I think tight spots are most women's specialities

And I think it's a negative on sliders for him but he does have skids

 

Might have to avoid a couple tight spots but a ton of other friendly trails out there.

 

For sure....we're game for anything!

 

Love A-B, the Calcite Mine was interesting with a few neat slots to explore, pumpkin patch, the overlooks, lotta good trails... have fun!

Right on, I don't have a cb yet unfortunately. Should have gotten one on Black Friday

 

I will meet you guys at Fish Creek camp around 7-7:30am on Saturday. Will check Ch-22 and 153.110

 

All of these places should be fine for stock 4wd trucks:
Sandstone canyon off fish creek wash near the ends of pinion and diablo drop offs is a beautiful tight canyon. May be a few hairy spots here for stock trucks, but I made it through just fine with stock height and sliders.
Canyon sin nombre is a pretty sweet, very short rocky wash entry to the mudcaves area.
Font's point has a beautiful view of the badlands.
Coyote canyon will be closed to vehicles now, but I've heard it's a beautiful hike.
If you get all the way down south you can hit up Dos Cabezas, there are some sweet abandoned railroad tunnels that you can hike in. I've never been but I am pretty sure stock 4wd is ok here.
I don't know what may be flowering now after a bit of rain, but North and South Indian canyons off of Indian gorge down in the southern portion of the park have some beautiful wildflowers.

Would you guys mind if I try to meet up with you around the 17th? I love anza borrego and have been missing it while I'm away at school, but I'll be back in San Diego this weekend for winter break and am hoping to get an anza trip in this break. But it's perfectly fine if you guys want to just do your own thing.

No problem! Thanks, I'll await a pm. I'll talk to my family about our plans to see if I can get out earlier. Were you just going to go for a few days in that time period or were you going to be there for the entire 6 nights that you listed?
Also, if you didn't know, they allow dispersed camping, so you can camp wherever you want as long as you follow fire regulations and park no farther than 100ft from existing roads or something like that. Standard leave no trace/tread lightly rules apply, yadda yadda, you know the drill.
I've gotten cell service at the top of the hill between arroyo seco del diablo (leads to diablo drop-off) and arroyo tapiado (has mud caves!). I don't remember where else I've gotten service or not out there.

 

As of right now we intend on being there from the 12th - 18th. Thanks for the info, I knew dispersed camping is allowed and fire restrictions and LNT. Hope to see you out there!
