It has only been mentioned once, but practically legal weed. We're not too far off of following in Washington and Colorado's footsteps. Plus this coast pretty much has the best buds in the country.

There is a reason why so many songs refer to Cali Kush, Cali Weed, etc.

I can't remember the last time we had more than a drizzle that burned off quickly.
So that's another point for Texas.

Alcohol on the highway is bad enough.
Legal weed (and even medicinal) scares the shit out of me.

    Why does weed scare you?

Like I said... our problems with alcohol on the road are bad enough.

Add weed, when there is not a solid guideline for impairment, either on the cop's end or on the user's end (more important than the cop's end).

At least with alcohol, there's a basic guideline of 1 drink per hour and unless you're under 100lbs, you're going to be cool to drive.
Not so with weed, especially with the variety of strength available... and today's weed is WAY more potent than what a lot of older people are used to.
I've had weed in the last 5 years that practically laid me out on my ass from just a couple of hits. 30 years ago, a joint might have made a nice mellow buzz for 2 people.

There have been threads on several forums that I'm on where someone sees a cop and pulls over to let them go by or for whatever reason gets stopped and busted.
They have their card.... why do they need to have their card and weed with them when they are driving?

Riding the dirtbikes up at Gorman... watched a guy riding who was really, really good. Guy was an ace rider on whoops.
Back in the lot, he sparked one up. Ranger was right there.
I pointed out the ranger, he held up his MMJ card and said "Bad back"

They loaded the bikes and he drove when they left.

IMHO, people checking their email while they are driving are far more dangerous than people driving high. I see it every single day on the freeway, multiple times per day. It's becoming an epidemic.

It became illegal to use a phone without a hands-free device a few Januarys ago, and people obeyed the law for like a month. Now it's a free-for-all.

But I'd much rather see someone behind me talking on their cell phone without a hands-free device versus someone behind me checking their email.

For all you young kids thinking weed is a safe and should be legal I have some news for you. I started smoking weed in 6th grade. By the time I was in high school I was doing ever drug under the sun. It all started with weed. I finally realized that I was on the road to nowhere. About 6 months after I stopped smoking weed I came out of my fog and started my life. If you smoke it once in a while or on weekends you may not end up on other drugs. But for me it was an all day thing looking for weed and then harder drugs once weed was not enough. I have friends that are my age that still smoke weed. They have no life and no goals still live like they did when we were in high school. .

I agree that it too is a huge problem, but I can't agree that it is worse than driving high.

I put texting/email, high, and above 0.10 at the same level.

Allen, awwwwww, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That is the craziest talk I've heard in... ever!! (At least since REEFER MADNESS from the '30's) C'mon, man. Don't blame the weed, blame the one smoking it. If you have an addictive personality, then anything will lead you to other things. :p :D

I've had a different experience with weed, a beneficial one, and am thankful CA does allow medicinal marijuana.
