Holy hell you're truck... Makes me miss my first tacoma which was bright ass red! So you're on 35's with stock gears? Do you know the mpg equivalent you're getting?

Lol the MPG's...I could honestly care less about. Not to sound like a dick or anything:) but to answer your question...I've actually tripped it with 35's and it's really good. Since I don't use overdrive anymore the truck is more "in the sweet spot" if you will, as a posed to "chugging" along with the 33's and overdrive on.

I took a recent trip to see my brother and got 560km out of a tank. So 350 miles. And that was all mountain driving.

How the fuck? I'm getting like 293 miles to a tank MAX right now on 4.10's and 31's and even that is all highway (38 mile commute one way to work). I want to eventually go 5.29's with 35's but don't want to fork over $2k at once right now, not to mention downtime for the gear install.

Yea...you have to factor driving styles to though. I'm doing 108-115km/h 90% of the time. I drive like an old lady so that's where I make up for it. Mind you I don't mind the odd braappp every once and while :D

Altitude has a lot to do with fuel consumption to....

Yeah I drive like a grandma too, didn't think about the altitude part though. Wouldn't think it would make that large of a difference though..

I don't think it makes up for the difference we are talking about, but it definitely plays a roll on it. Try running around without OD on, and cutting your speed back to 55-60mph. It'll honestly make a huge difference. Your transmission will thank you to if your an auto.

I never run o/d but I would get run over at 55-60 on the highway haha. I know there are "happy" ranges for our trucks but I do try to keep it between 65-70 on the highway. I've also been running the air box lid open to see if the cold air helps (poor man's deck plate mod haha)

What are your rpm's at 65 on the highway with OD off?

Holy crap, yea I'm wayyyy higher than you on the highway. 60mph is right at 26-2700rpm without overdrive. That could be where I'm gaining on you. The truck doesn't chugg along lol. I only use overdrive when I enter warp speed going down hills:D

But did you factor in the tire size difference? 560km on 35s is not going to be 560km on 33s or 31s. Unless you used your Gps. And are we talking 83, 87, or 91 octane?

Do you guys have rust problems up there? My girl's from Calgary...wondering how long trucks last. My '98 went back to Toyota in '05 with holes in the frame when I lived in NH. :(

Yes we do. They also use salt in most parts of BC, not sure about AB. My mom has had her last two 1st gen tacomas recalled in the last 5 years

No one is ever "finished" when it comes to personalizing a truck...haha
but this is very true, I got my truck with the lift for a steal!! and it looks really good if I do say so myself :spy:. But once I get a little more comfortable welding and fabricating I plan to put the cut front diff crossmember back in and lose this bracket junk.

Your a very smart man;) there is a gentleman on Tacomaworld who cut out his drop bracket and welded the crossmember back in. Check out Reeeno403's build in the second gen section. Says it was the best thing he ever did lol
