what a bummer!!! My heart is with you brother! I hope you get more money from your insurance co than I did from mine. I still have a very bad taste in my mouth for the screwing I got. May God be with you.

I just hope that they don't try to fix it. It will never be right again. Engine looked twisted and pushed back into firewall

I feel your pain. It's not the replacement of the truck so much as the process. I had an '86 Bronco parked in front of a friend's house for us to go out homecoming night. About 9:00 am I hear a loud bang, look out the window, and see my Bronco rolling down the street backward. A kid test driving a Camaro lost control, hit it head on, then tried to take off running. A neighbor witnessed it and held the kid down. The next three months was a ridiculous comedy of court and paperwork as the owner of the car refused to pay for damages (and for some reason was not legally liable), I had to sue the kid's family, and figure out how to fix my Bronco on a college ramen budget.

Take lots of pictures and call your insurance.

Yikes! Sorry your truck got creamed - but since the guy was drunk (stupid, f-ing idiot ) I'm sort of glad it was your empty truck and not an occupied vehicle or a pedestrian. Could have been so much worse if other people had been involved.
Since he was in a company vehicle I hope he's out of a job too - maybe that would wake him up and make him realize the stupidity and ignorance of the situation.

Not that it will be fun, but driving a company vehicle should make the company liable. I would advise to have your insurance deal with the company's insurance. Don't deal directly with company's or driver's insurance. It's kind of like being represented by a lawyer; you want someone who has your best interest as their objective. That's your insurance, since anything the other guy doesn't pay will be on them.

At least that's how I've always handled this kind of stuff and my insurance company has always done me right. And if it gets sketchy, get a lawyer...you are at no fault whatsoever...so I have little doubt a good lawyer would jump all over it. Judges/courts don't favor drunk drivers. My advice FWIW.

Well that sucks and so do drunk drivers. But look at it like this, maybe by the drunk douche hitting your truck, your truck could have saved an innocent life or lives, and who knows who.

Also you could total your truck with that damage. I would lean towards totaling it if I were the adjuster. Even with these trucks retaining value the way they do. The rule of thumb for calling one totaled is if the damage exceeds 75% of vehicle value. But you'd would be amazed at the cost of damage your truck has now.
Good luck, be thankful nobody was injured or killed, as much as it sucks.

Obviously I can't swear on a stack of Bibles here for the drunk, but I would be more inclined to believe this WAS a first time drunk offender. I do not know any insurance companies that will insure a BUSINESS vehicle if any driver has a conviction. I know my insurance company would not insure a company vehicle if that was the case. Either way, it really sucks for the OP.

You have a really good point there. While it sucks to have the truck smashed up, better that than a person being injured or killed instead. Some insurance companies are even lower on the percentage scale as well. When I had a car wrecked several years back, the percentage at USAA was only 60% of value.

I am sorry to hear about your truck. I have been hit by a drunk driver while driving (ran a stoplight at 65mph). I am glad that it was parked and neither you nor your family were in it while this A$$hole was out on the road drunk. I hope they nail him to the wall, you get a nice new truck out of this, it is relatively painless for you and is resolved quickly!

    Bone stock for now....
    Shitty situation.

    Good luck with the process.

As for the drunk guy, his life just took a hard right turn that he may never recover from. We drink at home. At the company party, we get a hotel. Just not worth it to risk your life or the lives of others.

That sucks, I know from experience. Almost the exact same situation happened to me and my truck about 26 years ago.
