    i'm in the process for applying for my first job out of college now with what some would consider a "useless major" - criminal justice & english double major from what is considered a top tier school (upenn). If there's one thing I have learned it's that no one gives a shit about your major, it's your GPA that gets you interviews and your ability to interview that gets you jobs. just what I've noticed from the applications I've gone through and seeing my friends go through the same. this isn't necessarily true for knowledge based jobs like engineering or working in a research lab, but for more general business jobs? major doesn't seem to mean jackshit
    just my opinion, not trying to start a pissing contest

    Eh, I know 3 MechE's that got jobs with different oil companies and are each making over $90,000 a year at age 23. Exxon even spent $20,000 on some ridiculous background check to hire one of my friends.

    Engineers do well right out of college.
