    ....that were bullshit......

When I bought my 2000 Tacoma, The salesman jumped into the bed, and started bouncing around and throwing himself side to side telling me about the "Electronic Active Suspension".......

What kind of things have you heard?

not when I bought my tacoma but when I was looking at a used car the salesperson, who was also a buddy kept telling me "everyone is looking at you in this car, you look great in this car," and every other kind of BS psychology line...guess what? didn't buy the lines or the car...:D

I bought the truck cause he told me it would make my johnson larger...

Actually...I haven't been fed too many lines of crap...cause I'll call them on it right away. Get fed one line- Say "Well...Really...This is how that works" and they tend to stop for me...Two cars purchased at a dealer....Two lines of bull.

When I bought my first car I had them fit an alarm, which they subcontracted to the company next door. I asked the salesman to show me how it worked, clerarly he didn't have a clue. He set it (or rather, thought he did) then we opened the door, expecting the alarm to go off. It didn't. So then he said that it would go off when the engine started. It didn't. Then he said it takes a few secs for it to go off, and I saw him sneakily pressing the panic button. He said 'there you go' I told him I had seen him hitting the panic button, so made him drive me round to the installer for a demo on how it worked. Such a loser.

I can't say that I'm surprised you got a :notsure: from him about the rear end gears. The 2nd gen taoc has as least two different ones...not to mention what the Tundra, FJ, and every other Toyota uses...They memorize A LOT of shit to sell cars...and different stuff for each model....That's a detail that could be looked up....but the 5 spd answer was dumb

Oh yeah no doubt, they remember quite a few things but he could have said i'll go find out.

On another note when speaking of a 4x4 I personally think that would be a selling point.

Dealer: Hey there, how can I help you?
Me: Well, I'm looking for a Tacoma. More specifically, an Access Cab PreRunner with a 4 cylinder and the 5 speed transmission.
Dealer: Hmm...Let me go check our inventory because one doesn't come to mind.
    (5 minutes pass)
Dealer: Sir, Toyota doesn't make those.
    Me: They don't make what?
Dealer: The PreRunner with a 4 cylinder. They only come with the V6.
Me: What about the one I test drove 20 minutes ago at the dealership on the other side of town? Was I imagining things?
Dealer: (I have no idea what he said after that, because both I and my checkbook were walking away.)

Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
I have not been fed any lines. But was told by salesman that they weren't sure about something when i asked and they actually went to someone else to find out.
Probably because I now my stuff when i go in. I actually carry a folder with all sorts of stuff from dealer incentives, KKB value. Credit report. And other things.

Actually afer reading the post above, I remeber the salesman saying to me "They do not make a four cylinder SR5 package." Only to call me back and say.. sorry I have three on the lot.

20 years ago when my dad and I were looking for my first car we stopped at a used car lot in Wichita. We briefly looked at a '86 or '87 Escort GT and had a salesman start it up for us. This thing sounded like the entire exhaust system was rotted out! The salesman calmly walked over to us obviously admiring the horrendous noise and attention this car was getting. With a straight face and while being completely serious, he looked my dad in the eyes and said, "Sounds like a race car, doesn't it?"

My dad grinned, looked at me and then back at the salesman and simply said, "I'll agree that thing sounds like a race car if you'll agree that you sound like an idiot."

And no, we didn't buy the car.

I always tell the salesman to go away and I will find them if I have questions. They dont like that. But I get to shop in peace. Its pretty funny(sad) when you know more about the vehicle you are interested in than the salesman.

My mother was trying to decide between two 4Runners. Both the same with the exception of color and one had navigation. Salesman said that the one without the navigation would get better mpgs because it had less electronics to run...

I went off on a guy at a Nissan dealership once that wouldn't shut up about the Nitrogen Filled Tires.

because the 79% of air that's nitrogen you know, doesn't cut it.

At a Toyota dealership, I asked for a Double Cab 4x4, sales guy brings out a list and says I have X amount of those on the lot....I think wow, that is strange since I had already walked the entire lot and couldn't find 1, so I look at the list and they all say Double Cab Prerunner and I had to tell him all Prerunners are 2wd :frusty:.
