First of all, Comcast very often doesn't deliver what it says it will. It can't-sort of the nature of how cable works.

The things you can try to improve wireless connectivity are: check the channels used by the wifi. Sometimes, there are other wireless routers using the same channels for their wifi and this can cause performance issues. Second, the path between your router and the devices connecting to it should be free of things that might cause degradation of signal-metallic wall studs are a good example, and lastly, distance. Be sure the devices you want to connect are within the range of the router-this won't be a problem in most houses but could be in a commercial space. Lastly, check the antenna orientation and make sure it's correct and away from electric cords or other metallic objects.

There's a slight chance the current security settings are what's causing the problem. You can try a lower security setting. Also, look at any software you're running for firewalls/spam/etc and make sure it's working correctly.

    HTH.

The 25-30mbps short was from previous performance numbers not what comcast says they offer.

and I understand these issues but the router has been fine in the past and I havent moved it.. It worked great yesterday and today it sucks.

SOMEthing is different. Logically, it must be.

    Otherwise it would be working.

Monster Coma, if you can, buy a MoCA bridge. They are fantastic.

I can connect with just the modem.. but idk how often. I never use my parents computer but my mom said she was having trouble with it earlier.. The lady at comcast expected me to believe it was my router just because I could connect to the internet 1 time with the modem.. I can connect with the router too its just random when it disconnects.

and I wont be getting a MoCA bridge.. I dont live with my parents enough to shell out $60 for it.

I'm just curious how yesterday I stayed connected the whole day with no issues and now today its fucking up. I doubt my router took a shit over night but anything is possible I guess.

and now its not connecting at all.. I have 5/5 bars on my comp and 4/4 bars on my xbox but I cant open a webpage or connect to xbox live..

Can you access the modem and pull line stats from it? This will help you see what your looking for. If they are not within good ranges, Comcast needs to fix it.

You may or may not be able to, depending on if your modem is bridged or not. What model modem do you have?

Are those the power readings? If so then there is definitely a problem on the downstream reading.

Are you able to connect right now? Those readings can and will change, especially if you've just rebooted it. Try and look at the readings when it's acting up. The best thing to do is rule things out. Try connecting direct to the modem with a computer, if your still having problems, try a different computer. If still having problems it may be an issue with the modem itself.

Maybe I should ditch my ISP and just tether from my phone from now on.
