Are you seeing any unusual tire wear yet. Every time you change the ride height you gotta be wreaking havoc with your camber.

 

Yep. Like I said, gotta have the preload to get ride height since 700lbs is max spring rate.

 

I got it aligned Monday when we installed the ORI's. I do have some uneven wear from losing all that ride height when I added the armor without aligning it though but nothing major. LR UCA's rock with all the adjustable room they have.

 

700 isn't the max..i can get 800s in 18''..haha

 

I didn't know that actually. I thought 700's were as big as they got. Guess it makes sense that someone makes something bigger though.

 

Eibach makes a 800 anyways for 18''. Can't imagine why the hell id need that..but a full size truck yes.

think King for a while make a 720 or someone did too..

 

But, but, ... Every time you change your ride height, the camber changes.

 

I know and I haven't changed my ride height since my last alignment.

I'm sure I'll have to get another alignment after I get the SUA kit installed and level out the front with it. Although if I got an inclinometer like Jberry used in his alignment write up I could probably do camber myself.

 

Ok, I guess I misunderstood. I thought the whole idea was to be able to raise and lower the ride height by simply changing the pressure in the shocks.

 

Yep. Which will screw up the camber. I think once I level it with the SUA kit on, I won't mess with it much if at all. Just like you probably don't touch the collars on your C/O's very much.

I had meant my alignment was messed up because I had it set before I added all my armor and had about 3" of lift. When all my armor went on I think I lost over an inch of ride height.

 

Yes, this is it exactly. Why I was surprised when I read about how these are used.

You are correct, every time I make a change in ride height, this includes adjusting the preload as well as adding armor, I go get a fresh alignment. Firestone lifetime makes it possible. Probably 5 in the last 20 months.

 

Seems like they are mostly used on solid axle rigs that won't really have alignment affected by changing ride height.

You're lucky that you have a lifetime alignment option. No one offersnone in Poky... $50 everytime I want one...

 

Well, $50 isn't horrible but it definitely effects how often you do it.

Haha, every time I go get one, the cost per goes down.

 

Ya wtf. Cost me like 70-80 to get an alignment. Haha

 

There is a downlide tho. I have had to 'train' more than one alignment tech. Now, they see me coming now and always put their most experienced guy on my truck.

 

I don't think that is a downside anymore. haha
