a cry for help? sold the 92 for $300 junk. SORRY DUDES! No disrespect to Canadians, I grew up on the south shore of Lake Erie, nothing but a joke!! Frustrated because I've been victim to rotten frames and I know what its like to be lost in a sea of "threads" with no solid answers. Just putting my time in. This is still a website

Oil your frame. Any method. Fluid film? Formula 3000, used trans fuild, old gear oil, used motor oil, vasaline, boiled blubber, grease trap cleanout shit. The argument goes on and on. Doesnt matter what you use. Just do something.

So be fore oiling frame just pressure wash it ...

Should I rub it down with varsol or paint thinner or something before applying oil?

Nope. Just wash it. Let it dry and the oil that thing like you would when you first started jer.... anyways...

If you have active rust nothing will help but sanding, grinding, priming, painting and then oiling. Pays to start oiling before it rusts.

What i did was use Rustoleum Rust Converter after scraping and using a wire brush. If you have any rust you don't want to just cover it up it will just keep on rusting. Oil is a good idea but messy, what I'm going to do is use Boiled Linseed oil and a garden sprayer to do the inside of the frame rails. Will crawl under the car every year and use the rust converter on everything i can reach and spray.

The prospective deal that gave rise to this thread is history. Since Friday, I have viewed 3 other frames, on 97, 98, and 04 trucks. The latter two frames are both very solid-looking and -sounding.

Thanks to all who responded - the advice seems valuable for any Tacoma.

    Will be posting a WTB...
