No one build an expo rig and doesn't use it. TO pricey not too. Okay..im sure they are some mall crawlers..but yea. If a truck has the right gear then yes. Its a better expo rig. If its not used for that..then that depressing yes, but still more capable..then its more capable..

Id disagree MASSIVELY with that.

Mike and i are both much more armored then you. Thus preventing more damage from things.

Mike and i both carry more parts and tools then you. IM sure your Oh SHit Moment in Moab was a big wake up call for both of those reasons.


You can never not have enough tools and parts with you as you were witness to when my LBJ failed. If i had been a lone. Id have been fucked. No spare bolts, No spare BJ, and yes, no vice grips..though i bet i could have maybe made do with pliers but woulda SUCKED.

But yea, if you have all the gear in the world and don't know how to use it..thats a problem.

But the rig itself is setup great..then its a great rig and you can't deny that.


At the same time, im all for just getting out not matter what kind of rig or vehicle you have. Don't let gear hold you back at all, but KNOW your limits. Thats the key.

Xoverland proved that point in episode 2 when they turned back on a trail..can't view it anymore tho sadly.

I take my truck up north to Vermont and Maine a couple times a year to camp and adventure. I have some beat up old cooking equipment I bring, but I'm going to need to shop around for a better setup lol.

But like I said I have this year to finish with school, and I figure a year of work to pay off and save enough to fund a trip that'll last a couple months at least.

Hmm.... I need one that has a mount for a Hilift and shovel as well. Hobby shop has welders, but the guy that has to be there for you to use them is never there...

We may have to talk about this whole you building me one over Spring Break....

 

yea you'll need about 4-5000 bucks a month for gas depending on your routes and trails your gonna hit id guess.

then food..probably only 1-200 a week at most.

But should be a good trip!

 

Where I regularly wheel requires a 2+ hour drive @75mph on the highway to go wheel lol. If I bust anything the truck is staying there till I can get back to fix it

That's what I had figured. Luckily I don't eat a whole lot. My average weekly cost for food (3 meals a day) is round 60 bucks. I don't eat out much...

If I had a 1st gen to wrench on I'd build you a bed/roof rack in a heartbeat. Doing a design for my truck as we speak.

im kind of the same way. i know what I need and i take what I have. I still had about a foot and a half of bed space left because i consolidated so well. The one thing I do want though...is better organization. Im tired of digging out totes. I want to build like a box with a fold down door and shelves or something, that I can easily organize my stuff in.

Yeah no kidding... Having just switch to the winter gas I'm averaging 17mpg between town and highway... With armor... And a truck full of tools. On mts. I hope to travel during the summer months... But with racks, rtt, gear... I'm guessing at best I'll get is 16... Then wheeling will probably bring the average down to like 12-14 over the course of the trip...
