The only chance the SEC has of defending the streak is for OSU and/or FSU to lose. Voters won't put a 1-loss team ahead of OSU or FSU, even if it's a 1-loss SEC champ.

HOWEVER... I think Mich St has a really good shot of beating OSU.

As a Bama fan grasping at straws..... I hope that SOMEHOW FSU and OSU both lose, and we get a re-match against auburn or a game against Mizzou in the title game. Yes, I know that won't happen. We'll end up in the Sugar or Orange, though.

I dunno man. It's possible considering schedule strength and OSU barely made the #3 spot by something like .01 point. I'm ready to find out for sure! I mean...they barely beat an unranked but very well prepared Michigan team where as we played and beat a damn good Alabama team. I think the lack of competition in the big 10 and their cotton soft schedule could be the deciding factor in AU jumping OSU. But I could be way off also.

There's really no way to know how the voters will go... The computers (from what ESPN tells me) will put auburn over OSU, but 2/3rds of the rankings are voters, and an undefeated major-conference champion (for many) will trump a 1-loss major conference champion, and I think the streak of 7 NCs in a row might work as much against the SEC as for it. There are voters who are tired of the SEC want the streak to end.

This season has convinced me that Chizik is the worst coach to ever win a national title, and Cam Newton was one of the greatest college players of all time. The fact that Chizik went 3-9 w/ basically the same team as Malzahn used to win the West is just incredible.

 

Chizik was a good coordinator...but not head coach material. Malzahn was our reason for success in 2010 from a coaching standpoint.

 

Nick Marshall did help Malzahn out. He was a big time addition for that offense.

 

I really hope y'all don't get screwed into playing NIU in the Sugar which is what will probably happen.

 

Best I recall NIU beat Bammer the last time they played.

I'm not sure why Muschamp attempted to switch offensive schemes so quickly. He inherited a power spread-option team, and attempted to make it into a pro-style ground and pound. That same thing got Chizik fired when Malzahn left Auburn. It'll be interesting to see who Muschamp hires.
