Fly Fishing BS thread

ok...I'm planning on getting into the Bob probably the last week of July. We'll have to set up our own vehicle shuttle and looking at probably a 14 - 16 mile hike in. But trust me, it will be worth it....some of the best fishing EVAR!

 

Probably a day and a half. If the flow is good, we may even be able to put in a little higher so that could cut a few miles off our hike

 

Actually the TH we will be starting from only requires us to climb 2k in elevation in order to get up over the pass, then it's all downhill to where we put in. If you got the funds, we could also have someone pack us in. Then at our take out we have a 3 mile hike back to our vehicle.

 

That would be great. We will be going in from Benchmark TH or we could also do Young's pass but that's more elevation and a longer hike/ride

Dude I'm talking probably 30 - 40+ fish days!

 

Near the headwaters there will only be cutties. As we get down further then we'll hook into some bow's and hopefully bull trout. From all my research and talking to guys that have fished those area's, no brookies

 

No man...we'll be hooking into some nice sized cutties. Especially up near the confluence our first few days

 

You just need to figure out how many days you can dedicate to this trip. I was thinking at least a good 5 - 7 days fishing, 1.5 days to hike in....that is if we can't get packed in. We'll be packrafting close to 65 miles all together, but the flow should be close to 3 - 5 mph.

Nice catch! I'll bet the water level is way down by now. Are you using topwater or nymphs?

I love fly fishing... Living in BC canada I get the opportunity to do some of the best fishing in the world.

It's almost steelhead season. Freezer is still full of fresh coho.

Bull trout and rainbow trout fishing is good now that they eating loose salmon eggs.

Niether. The water is so low and cold, nothing is really eating, so I've been using streamers. It's more of a territorial thing now, just trying to piss off some of those fatties at the bottom.

Just curious. I caught one just off the bearing sea and the guide threw it back like it was radioactive.

Some guys like to target the chum for sport, they put up one hell of a good fight and get huge

 

^^ Fantastic fish, Chris! My son lives in South Lake Tahoe and is learning to fly fish. He's had pretty good luck so far. He now wants to try ice fishing! Send me your info for hiring you as a guide for next Spring, I'd really like to treat my son to some killer fishing.
