What personal protection do you keep in your Tacoma?

If I'm not mistaken, a Kimber is a handgun.

 

My pups go everywhere I go. The lab has this insane bark whenever someone gets close to the truck and the pit just looks like a badass. In reality I'd be screwed if I really needed protection because they're total wimps. However, I always have a few grand in climbing gear and tools in the truck and never have to lock it.

Me personally, would never store a firearm in my truck. Wouldn't be opposed to keeping a knife stored though.

 

I drove through the hill top area 15-20 years back and it was the same crap up there... almost got the car jacked. Good place to avoid. Have you ever concidered about moving... just a thought.

I moved maybe 4-5 months after that yeah. The area I lived in was on the up and up, closer to downtown, but the gas station was on my way and I had been there many times without incident.

I decided to share what happened with people because I know there are quite a few out there who feel things like that could never happen to them. My belief is that too many people have a false sense of security and fail to keep there head on a swivel when doing routine things like pumping gas, that is why I think these guys chose the place they did.

Wool socks - 'cause frostbite and cold feet ain't fun
Work gloves - slivers and blisters ain't fun either
Ear protection - hearing loss sucks
Chainsaw chaps anytime I have the saw - cutting your leg open or right off sucks more
Extra warm clothes and boots in winter - chillen' is good, hypothermia, no so much.
Firestarting supplies - see explaination above.
Firstaid kit - for when things do go wrong.

And a 4D maglight with the 1000 lumen Terralux led conversion - a lights on / lights out type of flashlight.

I agree that a projectile weapon is obviously going to be more effective than a melee weapon from inside the cab

Are you limited to a medieval weapon because you're not permitted to own a firearm in BC? Honest question, I'm not up on your firearm laws.

 

No , but the OP was asking about storing weapons other than guns in the cab for protection , and I was commenting on the melee weapons suggested by others in the thread

You can own firearms in BC , and the rest of Canada but carrying a handgun is a restricted wespon , but the OP was asking about weapons other than guns

 

You can always keep a Ziplock bag of ground, black pepper near. In your truck or on yourself.

I know you're thinking "wtf"? I say this because when I was 12 or so a friend of mine had a good idea(at the time) to have a pepper fight. Well it was all good until we got each other in the face and eyes. Took over 30 minutes until we could see(sort of) and over an hour to get all the pepper out. Watery eyes really badly.

It's not illegal. it could help. Less likely to get into your eyes like mace would. You don't have to touch the other person(if they are bigger and stronger than you). I don't know why this thread made me think of that time. Made me laugh. I thought I would share.
