I appreciate the offer JW. This came off of an 08 4Runner and yes, it was an Auto.
I'll be playing around with it in a few days - too much going on w/the Holiday to really pay any attention to it.
I was talking with my Father-in-law yesterday & asked him to get me a set of driveshafts for it. He's even got a local contact that can re-tube them and set them to the proper length.

I'll bring y'all some butter & salt for that popcorn...

The FJ case is from an Automatic trans FJ. The manual FJ's are full time 4wd.

 

I searched around craigslist and expedition portal and found a guy in NC selling a 2 man RTT(unbranded) with an annex for 700$.

It was a deal i couldnt resist.

 

Got it.. I knew you had a 6 speed and saw you got a a/t trans case my motor head went.

I've done a bunch of reading / research on the topic.
Once you've driven a manual w/ a crawlbox there really is no comparison.
The second I took Anthony's truck for a spin after he did the swap I knew it was something I wanted to do.

 

I did some cleaning up in the shop today & took a few minutes to get a better look at my latest purchase before I move it somewhere out of the way.

This was mounted in an 08 T4R w/ an auto trans - hence the shifter setup...





This will not work for my manual trans taco... I'll either need to modify this or purchase a new twin stick assembly.

I just realized it is going to be different anyway because your a 2.7L 5spd & we are both 4.0L 6spd.

Anthony's crawlbox shifter is up near the gear shift and the twin sticks look slightly further back than yours:



Either way - I've got my work cut out for me.

I'll be looking into driveshafts later this coming week - just need to find the time to stop by my FIL shop.

 

This will be one heck of a rewarding upgrade, once it is all finished!

So I've got my FIL looking into driveshafts now. I'll bet he's got them by the end of the week...
He's a chevy guy & not a really big fan of my truck... He does however grudgingly support my interests. He did the re-gear install for me.

These came in the mail today:



LCA's off of a 2010...
they need a complete rebuild, but my plan is this:
Rebuild them with all new ball joints and bushings so I can just lop of my seized up bull shit and make for a quicker swap.
I'm also looking into having them reinforced while their off...

Knowing me I'll gather up all the parts and then just give them to the shop to do the rebuild labor - might cost me a case of beer.

I've decided on the DSM UCA's (that will probably be my Christmas Present to myself).

I still need to source a set of 4x4 spindles - I have the TC spindle gusset kit still gathering dust in my shop.

Since sizing up to the 35's the drive-ability on the road has improved greatly - the combination of the 6spd manual with 4.56 gears and a true 35x12.5x17 tire is spot on.
My speedo is only off by about 4mph on the highway and acceleration response feels like stock.

I took off another 1/2" from the cab mount and for now I only get slight rubbing.
the excellent part is the offset of Thayer's 17" wheels fixed the frame rub on the passenger side and I don't even come close to hitting the stock UCA's.

The toe is fine but I cant have the camber or caster adjusted due to my shit being all seized up.
Hence I can't ramp up the camber to give the 35's a bit more space to move...
I'd like to get that situation resolved before I take a sledge to the firewall...

So for now it's a street queen - And I'll keep collecting parts.

If I really what to wheel I'll throw the 295's back on.
