    Yea been recommended the icon v8000 by a few guys. I think a dual band would be best tho.

    And getting a general license not just a technician one so we can use repeaters..might as well right? Haha

    I realize that. But who is going to set up a repeater in the middle of the woods for added range. are you saying that there are already repeaters set up that other ham radio operators let you use?

    Yea there are a lot in the area. Just think, we could radio eachother right now with repeaters I bet. Or I could radio home while on trips. You can even get patched into cellphones I think..not positive on that.

    It's only an extra 35 question quiz..don't see why not. Be cool to have and use I figure. Granted most the time just be within normal 20 mile stuff but still..

    Also since it's FM be much cleaner. I think ill patch mine into my stereo.

    looks like you should take it in St Louis. there aren't any classes in Wyoming. Tons in St Louis

    would be pretty dang handy as another way to communicate over cellphones. Color me interested. I've always felt kind of castrated with CB... you know? There are a few guys in town here who drive 4runners around with what i'm pretty sure are ham setups. So there are ppl around here.

    If there is a local club, they most likely do testing and just don't advertise it. It is very easy for clubs to be able to test people. I would contact one, if you have one around.


    This is called autopatching. If the repeater you connect to is setup for it, than you can dial a phone number and talk via your radio.
