As long as we're talking about safety, does anyone make or has anyone made an automatic door lock for the Tacoma? (as in auto locks when put into drive) So many other vehicles have it.

One of the reason I personally carry is that while the Sand People are easily startled, they will soon be back, and in greater numbers.

Some folks around here are carrying long range Wasp & Hornet spray. This stuff will shoot a stream about 20 ft and that it is pretty effective in stopping folks in their tracks.

Not as uncommon as you think.

In just my own personal family there have been three incidents where a weapon either was or would have been a real asset.

The following took place over about 20 years, but they all involved my immediate family.

My father was a pharmaceutical representative, after leaving a doctors office in Norfolk he was attacked by three men because of the drugs in his car. Dad sped out of the parking lot with them hanging on the hood and doors, actually threw one off of the hood in a turn. Soon after he started to carry one in his car all the time.

I personally had to warn off someone who was hiding in some bushes at a walk up anytime teller. As soon as my cash came out he jumped up and started directly towards me, I reached under my shirt and put my hand on my weapon. I simply said to him "you do not want to do this", never withdrew my weapon but I believe he clearly got the message. I never saw a weapon in his hands so he quickly turned and walked away, this happened within sight of the Portsmouth, VA police headquarters on High Street.

Lastly was my niece and this one took place within the last year. She was a senior in college and worked part time at her parent's hotel. While cleaning rooms with her best friend (who also worked there part time) had a guy come into a room they were working in and commit suicide right in front of them.

The guy was the ex-boyfriend of my niece's friend, he was very jealous as well as crazy it would seem. He walked in pointed a gun at them and then turned it on himself and shot himself. The boy was the son of a police officer and had taken one of his fathers guns to go 'after' his ex.

Would a weapon have changed any or all of these, who knows, but having one sure would have been better than not having one.

Sorry I was thinking Kabar knife I did not read that well, but the same holds true walk back into the store and call the cops if you out on the street the story is different I would suggest having your hand on the gun not just showing them you have one. Do everything you can to avoid confrontation first don't yell at them no one likes to congratulate a dead hero. An addict has only one thing in mind.

This is true pepper spray does not work on every one we have had more than one in intake at the jail that could not be subdued with pepper spray. Brute force usually worked pretty well on them though.

I get it, and I agree with you. However, if you are ever put in that unfortunate position, tell everyone you shot to stop the threat. That way the lawyers will have a harder time calling you a murderer, psycho, premeditated it, etc…. You stopped him, it's just so happened to coincide with killing him. N'est-ce pas?
