What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yeah, I'd probably have a bunch of pointless electronics and a custom built computer if I didn't enjoy modding my truck. Haha

 

I'd probably have textbooks, actual food, and more practical things like a TV… but hey, spending ignorant amounts of money on our trucks is fun too.

 

Haha yeah, I think I'm a better person for working on my truck. Gets my outside more and working with my hands.

Yea i use it for work and play. Alot of parts on my computer came from companies i have done work for and from building other peoples computers. Defiantly can spend a lot of money quick on both

 

Any one know if the Harbor Freight 170amp mig/ flux welder is a good enough welder to weld a relentless bumper together?

I bought the DIY relentless front plate bumper. This will be my first time welding so I'll practice before working on the bumper. If heard mig/flux is the easiest to use, just not sure about the harbor freight one?

 

for a small hobby project..probably be fine.

Picked up some nice 4Runner driveshafts in Denver for $15 each to cut up for parts.

 

Well my plan is to learn so that way I can start to make my own stuff like rear bumper and skids. I probably wouldn't use it for more than truck mods. What's the lowest Amperage I can get but have the welds still be strong enough to hold 1/4" or 3/16" steel plates together? Would 140amp mig welder be enough?

 

Id go a bit bigger for good welds on 1/4''. But you can still do it. All depends on how good you get. Seen some AMAZING fab work done with not so great welders.

Hell i have been using a 175amp 210v Eastwood thing..works for me.

I will say, get a 210v not a 120v.

 

A good welder will make your life easier. That and good prep will allow for more penetration and stronger welds, bevel the edges of all your joints. And get an angle grinder with a good assortment of cutting, grinding, and flap discs.

How'd the Honda Out-of-Shape fare?

 

Anybody ever try this B-Quiet sound deadener? I think I may order some. I've decided to start the rest of my mod list with "creature comforts." I just spend a lot of time in my truck, and it want it to be as comfortable in the cabin as possible. For example, I had my oil changed at about noon on Saturday, and by 3:00 Sunday I had already put 100 miles on it. Typical.

 

Oddly enough, not a problem on the way back. I had plenty of time to think rolleyes... seriously considering tracking down a full sized truck (wrecked) fix it up and sell the Unfit.

Thanks. Yeah the tires surprisingly are that loud. Expected to be louder but they're fairly quiet for mud terrains.

 

Thanks for the compliments. Truck has the bilstein/eibach setup and AAL in the back. I'd like to start a build thread but don't have quite enough mods to start one hahaha. Theirs a lot of nice builds on here including your truck and one day hopefully mine will be at that level.

If it were me. I'd sell it and try to find another Honda/Acura or Toyota sedan/hatch that will give you 30-35 mpg. Rather than a full size truck that'll give you sub 20.
