Could, but my suspension is fine so far, and i'd like to get comfortable on a bike before we go to glamis in february.
Firgured, i might be able to expand the budget by selling the honda 75 i have now.

I thought i didn't know anyone with a dirt bike, but i remembered my uncle has a 200 big wheel i can ride, only thing wrong with it is it has a bald rear tire.
6'2'', and at least 250 lbs (don't know for sure as i haven't weighed myself in a while)
I wouldn't ride in the dunes, i'd just play on the hard pack.

The big wheel will be fine considering there is very little hardpack in the sand dunes. Never rode a 200 but my 350 does well

I figure it'll do good enough.
How do you like your DRZ?
I wouldn't mind getting one of those if i could find one cheap.
Looks like fun, i don't know how many hours i put on my quad when we were a t dumont, but i rode ~50 miles.

What do you know about the crf 250's?
I can get a 06 for $1,600, only thing wrong with it is it had the top end rebuilt (By FBC)

Sounds like it might be a little beat up based on price, but as long as it runs good its probably a decent deal. I sold my 05 CRF450 with tons of aftermarket stuff, but needing valves replaced for about $1800 2 years ago

If you know how to ride, considering your size Id look for a 450, but if your not going to the dunes a 250 would be fine to cruise.

It looks used, but pretty clean (scratches, but no built up dirt)
Kid said he blew the top end in the desert, trying to keep up with his buddies.

That ^ (bolded) is my issue, i haven't ridden a dirt bike in ~ 10 years, i ride my quad all the time, but it's not the same as a bike.

$1600 is about the going rate around here. Wonder what he actually had done, makes a big difference. hopefully he did the valve guides too, they often dont and it wears really fast.

I know pretty much everything ab out Crfs since I race them and do all my own work minus machining...

Find out what was done and let me know and I can advise you better.

I am getting an 05' CRF250r for $1K but needs a head rebuild. Gonna pull the motor and slap a Honda CR500 2 stroke engine in it, gonna be my new open class desert racer on the faster courses (District 38).

I have a 06 CRF 250x and love it, haven't rode it since last season and not having a truck right now makes it a lot harder. But I usually go out to Barstow and you can easily do 50-70 miles in 4 or 5 hours with getting lunch out at Slash X. Great bike, only problem I've ever had with it is the carb from the factory.

Looks like an awesome single track Jason, I know the GoPro never really shows off how fast or steep the hills are, I def would't be able to keep up with you but it looks super fun
