Hey, just a heads up. I know a few guys were talking about upgrading or buying their first DSLR.

Nikon D7000 is $300 off at B&H for today. That's $699 for a brand new D7000 (body only) shipped. Not bad.

lot's of other good deals there as well.

I spent Thanksgiving in Seattle with my daughter. In Oregon this week. Took these with my little Nikon P&S.

I thought his reaction was pretty good. Inside just sunken!

I want to see him remake that video with a 800mm tele lens!

I'm not a pro and don't do that.

A pro would have told their assistant to hand him the other 24-70 L.

So the other day I was walking around downtown just trying to get some time with my camera, and I noticed there are sooo many people out there taking pictures and it actually discouraged me a little for some reason. :pout:

yea affordable DSLRs have made it a popular hobby.

But doesn't matter. All about how much you enjoy it and what you get out of it.

Here are a few shots from this weekend.

This one came out a little wavy due to stupidity on my part. I took the tripod but left the tripod mount on my 5d2 instead of my 60d! So I just put the camera on the bridge, and the 40* and 40mph winds didnt help, nor the bridge moving when trucks drove over it, but I wanted the shot anyway.

I did a 50 min exp on the 5d2 at 16mm to see how it would come out.. Too much light bleed from the town tho.

    Tourist!

Just cause they are out there taking pictures doesn't mean they are producing something. A lot of people take snapshots. You're thinking above that level. Use your head and challenge yourself to get that unique shot. Find a spot and photograph it every way you can think of then find more till you get that one perfect unique shot. Go crazy!

I'll go to the river here all the time and sit there and look to see what I could do to make it different. Whether it be an angle, time of day, or different flow of the river (We're under a dam so flow varies by generation schedule). Just focus on something and don't worry about what the other guys are doing. Right now, you work for you. That's the only one that matters. This is your hobby and when you get that shot where everything clicks and you want that shot on the wall in 30x40. Well then, you're not discouraged anymore are you?

I felt the same way when I was in Alaska for my honeymoon.
But in paying attention, almost everyone I saw with an entry dslr like mine was shooting on full auto. With the flash up...

True true. I think one of the biggest things for me though is the editing. I can't always tell the difference between a good solid photo and a good piece of editing..
