Hey so I just joined the Tacoma club on Saturday with a 2014 black TRD with off road package. Looking for a good starting point. New to off roading, planning to do mostly trail stuff. Looking to lift, change tires and black the truck out. Any suggestions in southern CA?

    Thanks

Welcome to the Club!! I just picked up my Black 2013 TRD in August and have been having a lot of fun. This too is my first time modding my vehicle. Always kept my vehicles stock.
Here is what I have done so far and I couldn't be happier!!

Bilstien 5100 front leveling kit (4wheel parts did a great job)
17" TKO Black wheels from Americas Tire Co.
285 75R 17 Terra Grappler Tires (again Americas Tire)
Changed out all the stock speakers
    Fog light mod
    Debadged
    Blacked out front grille

I'm going to take a little $$ break but my next project will be AFE cold air intake.
My brother (faryota) put one on his and is getting great Gas mileage, better HP and torque.

You have what I consider the best truck money can buy and will have many great times fixin it up to match your personality!! Enjoy!!!

They are set at 2.5. Sits a fraction higher than the back so I still have room to max them out to 3" and lift the back an 1". Not sure that would make a big difference or not.

Hey sweet truck are you running 5100s in the rear to or stock struts with a 1" block cause i read that the rear 5100s give you a 1" lift without running a block?

    Thanks!

Yeah, I have the 5100's in the back as well with the 1"blocks. Truck looks level with them.

Nice thats what i was wondering if the 5100s would be enough or would i have to get a 1“ block or aal to go with the 5100s.. is your front maxed out or can you go higher in the front

To answer your question, the 5100's in the rear don't do the lifting. You have to get either an AAl or block. They are just longer shocks so they can accommodate the extra lift

That is the suggested route to take. I will be going withy the icon 3 leaf progressive AAL. It rides a little better from what I hear. There are tons of guys running just a single AAL that like it.

Also the uca thing is kind of a hit or miss situation. Most guys with them set at 2.5" can get their alignment in spec and some can get pretty darn near perfect. Others have issues. If you need new ones, the best value is probably Light racing. They can be found a little under $400.

Also instead of setting the 5100s at the top setting, lots of guys get a new set of coils (frequently either ome 885s or eibach) for a better ride. I have 885s on 5100s sitting at home waiting to be installed. With these most guys get just over 2.5" so new uca's are highly recommended.

    Here: http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com...af-for-Tacoma-with-rear-TSB-springs_p_16.html

This can be used with the regular leaf pack as well as the TSB as the page explains.

To answer the other part, its hard to tell. It really depends on what all you are running (i.e. armor, bumper, etc) The only way to tell is measure the back and front and run the calculations. Even then its not exact.
